And finding it very difficult! I love the bonnet scoop & shape. I would love a willie but finding one in my budget is difficult! Im looking to part ex my 02 106 for one.

So, thoughts on the williams, whats the difference between the 2 & 3? Is there a 1? Thoughts on the rsi's too pls! soz!

Any one know of one going or selling one?

cheers :D

Why are you looking at an RSI if you want a williams? surely the alternative would be a Valver (Clio 16v)?

Williams 1 is the original and the differance is purely cosmetic between the 1 and 2. They have different door mirrors, side mouldings, front grill, tailgate, headlamp boomerangs and the one has a plaque. The 3 is the same spec as the 2 but has a sunroof and is 432 blue in colour, 1 and 2's are 449 blue.

If you're struggling to get a Williams in your budget don't get one! Cheap ones will be a box of shite.

Get a valver. Brilliant hatch. 2 of my mates had them when I had my 106 GTI. Awesome fun car.

Don't bother with the RSi, 1.8 8v with 105bhp? 14" speedline 5 spokes with standard wings and bonnet. Very heavy on petrol too.
The 16v (1.8 16v) has the bonnet bulge and wider wings with nicer 15" alloys with about 135bhp and would highly recommend one, especially at the cost compared to the williams. Up the fuel pressure and they really perform well.
williams was the 2.0 16v and are beautiful but cost, I wouldn't look for a cheap one as said earlier

how the hell did you conclude that the 1.8 8v is heavy on fuel? I was getting 40mpg from my 1.8 8v laguna, and the extra weight will make the economy worse than the clio.

I love my RSI. Not exactly standard though. A friend of mine had a standard one for years and it was a superb car in every way, she's jealous of mine now she has a cup ;)

3's have ABS - which is crap, 3's also rust the worst judging by how many have been eaten away...

1's tend to be the most impressive at resisting the rot.

1's have manual wing mirrors, 2's have electric. 1 & 2's sholdn't have door speakers unless fitted by someone later 3's have them as standard.

If your looking at willy's AND rsi's you don't have a clue what you want from a mk1 at the moment to me!

The bodyshells are totally different for a start!

beware the valver. used properly and the roof will buckle just behind the sunroof. not exactly detrimental to how they drive, but an eyesore none the less. williams all the way tbh.

and i wouldnt bother with a 3....1s or 2s. rust is an issue on them, as it is with all cars of that age, my advice, buy the best you can bodywise, all mechanical items are fairly easy to swap/sort

concluded through personal experience, was worse than a 16v when comparing day to day driving without an overly heavy right foot. ownership only lasted 9 months.

As for the OP, valver is the way forward. I'd still have one if I could have a 2nd car or didn't do all the mileage.

personally id go with a 1.2 unsunroofed model and throw the willy or valver susp on, and a meg 2.0 in, with a valver dash/loom. thats if i was building a track car, and i didnt happen to have a spare williams 1 sat doin nowt ;)
