Mocal socketless hose. GIVE ME YOUR TIPS

Just been fitting my oil cooler and now my hands are horribly blistered from "push fit hose"

It's all 1/2bsp stuff. I've got it on this far, run it an it's not leaking anywhere. I'm just a little apprehensive about long term reliability (going to Germany in the summer)

I used a hair dryer to try and heat it up and it did make it go on easier but I just get to a point where I can't get it on anymore.

Has anyone got any tips or do you thinking a few mikalor clips will seal her up a goodun

I had the same when using this stuff.. tried hairdrier followed by boiling water and just couldn't get it to fit as well as I wanted too..

Ended up using proper lines made too length.. not want you want to hear although maybe I was just being weak!

I wanted to get lines made up but didn't know what length I needed. I would never recommend this stuff it's just horrible. Also I'm feeble but even shaking with the amount of effort I'm putting it it doesn't budge.

It seems like heating is my best bet.

Keep the suggestions rolling in :) someone must have had the ta da moment

I've used the earls version of this on fuel lines and it requires a hell of a lot of brute force to get it on all the way! The larger the bore, the easier it goes on though.

I used the hot water method and the hairdryer to assist, but it still takes effort. Lots.

how about spraying something like hairspray on the hose fitting? it'll lubricate it initially, then dry and glue it on

(obviously dont use stacks of it, otherwise you'll contaminate the oil system)

I though about hair spray but knew it would be sticky enough without it.

Already popped the wd40 all over :)

I've got them to a point where I'm happy with how they are seated now, used the hot water as suggested. Can't get it all the way but it's so close I can't see there being a problem.

Depends on pressure and quality. If its genuine Goodridge 536 series fittings and hose in either -8 or -10 rather than the cheap asian copies then it'll be rated for just shy of 250psi working pressure (with around about 1000psi max burst pressure). Its pretty good shiz which is why its a C U Next Tuesday to install.

Got this exact stuff on my fuel rail and am tempted to use it on PAS to.

pretty sure there's a tool for this that they sell, there's one for pushing fittings into braided fuel line

Ahhh i remember those push fittings, i blew one off and left myself stranded on a back road for 3 hours. never ever again. Pre made lines alllll the way.

I wouldnt not be happy with those unless they are FULLY seated butted all the way back touching the plastic red part. Adbmittantly mine werent, and i used jubilee clips, but as said it split the pipe and blew off.

I've used this. As someone mentioned above. Lots of force and boiling water. You need the fitting and the hose HOT and then use dishcloths or rags so you don't get burnt.

Push and twist and keep going. Eventually it'll go. Once its on it's not coming off unless you cut it. And then you have to do it again!

I have used this loads of times on race engines and never had a problem with it. As Dan said, fitting in a vice and hot water is the way. Do not put jubillee clips on, the stuff is not designed for it, if you tighten them enough to have any effect the ridges on the fitting will start to cut through the hose and weaken it.

And buy the genuine stuff! I hate it when people say "Goodridge push-on is rubbish" then when you see what they actually had installed was cheap Chinese copies and generic rubber hose... no wonder it failed!

The PTFE/Rubber with steel overbraided stuff is evil though and slices your hands to bits. Spent a day doing my brakes lines and a week recovering lol

Won't be putting clips on. I've done some reading around which agrees with what quattro has said. It's genuine moquip hose though, I'm not one to cut corners!

I will try and get it on those last few mm when my palms have been reattached.

off they come again to get it perfect. I'll have to do that at the weekend.

Thanks for the pic, at least I know it's possible to get them as far as the red bit. It seems like its there taunting me at the moment!
