"NEO" 172 Cup Rally project with shiny bits on!

  172 Cup Jenvey'd
Hello all, been on here for a while now and with alot of views/interest on a few threads ive made I thought it would be a good idea to start up a blog to keep it all in one place..

May remember me from such threads which included my "home made intake" etc

So after that 182 the opportunity came to buy my dream car.. An Evo 5..

Hell of a car but just lacked excitement which ruined it for me :(

With that now sold to a bloke in Slovenia it's on to the CUP!!

She came up in the classifieds on here, arranged a viewing in bristol, agreed on a price and came home with it, straight away the smiles were back! The noise alone is worth the money!

Hope you enjoy..

Current plans are to finish fitting the radiator, plumb in the catch tank

Make an airbox so I can run longer trumpets and use a panel filter Up against the front grill.

Make an oil cooler.

Then save up for a custom cages cage :)

Your metalwork is awesome. Can you still do the air filter setup?

May be one of few who think the V is in exciting though, I myself believe the VI was the most exciting car I've ever drove ( heavily modified ).

I can indeed do the filter no problem..

Hmm I guess I'm just French hatchback mad.

Evo was too good at everything and made driving fast very easy.

Had a few hours on the car this weekend..

Managed to strip alot of unwanted weight out, fitted the mudflaps, made a couple of brackets to mount the aero catches so I could get rid of the slam panel, fitted the rear tow strap, also took my angled spacers for the throttle bodies to be machined so that they fit the ktec kit.

And made up a "to do/buy" list of whats left to get it MSA logbooked.

Looking good mate! Going to be a fair few Clio's out on the stages now ;) we should start out own one make championship lol

Had my jenvey spacers back from being machined to suit ktec bodies which I decided was the best way to fit them.

So once marked up I can weld the new flanges on and fit them.. Along with making the airbox then. Hopefully get the airbox and cage in for French car show in 8 weeks.

Cheers both :) I will be running without the slam panel, and making a 306 maxi esque airbox with my custom ITG panel filter uo against the front grill

The length was 225mm from the head and is now 270mm so a fair difference..

Bit of a running update as we speak the radiator fitting/plumbing is happening, looking pretty swish!

Few more photos of tonight's work.. More to come tommorow..

Half of the pipes are made, and then made up a relocation plate for the coilpack.

Pretty eventful day today, not without a couple of hiccups!

Made all the pipes for the radiator, just need a few 90 degree rubber hoses to get that all done.
Made a coil pack relocation plate which has given me a bit more room and looks awesome I think.
Also had the pig of a job taking the sump off to weld in a boss to fit my oil temperature sensor in rather than go the sump plug sensor route which is asking for trouble.

Needed a 1/4 drive E8 socket for the sump bolts.. Typically only had a 3/8 drive one so got it spun down on the lathe so it fitted into the recessed holes on a few bolts... Then found a 1/4 drive one -_-
DSC_2220_zps82876708.gif

Fitting the sump back on and managed to drop one of the bolts into the bellhousing! Ballache!
DSC_2217_zps79f39442.gif

Thank god for telescopic magnets!

Left it like this for tonight.

DSC_2219_zpsa587d11c.gif

Need to get a couple of 100degree bends for the top radiator hose to make that nice.

Oil cooler is next, then airbox which
will be interesting to make! Haha

Hopefully all done before French car show aswell as ordering the cage from custom cages.

Bit of an update, had the car back on the rollers with the new intake length and seen a decent gain of 1bhp and 5 ft/lb of torque so the work wasn't a waste of time. Hopefully more updates this weekend.

187 at the wheels and 214 at the fly, very good gains over standard yes, 47bhp and about 27lb/ft of torque.
