Quote taken from organiser:
plus seeked tuning specialists knowledge of the add ons and common upgrades to determine the 182 cup choice, its not been a guess.
So chose the top best performance Clio, its also the most up to date.
this is what throws me... From what this says, the have chosen the "optimum" clio. So by this logic anyone who enters in any other mk2 clio is knowingly running a less competitive car thus hindering themselfs. So why is this an issue? If people think they can win in a "lesser spec" car, let them!
Be a Ktec system aswell I expect.
So just another over priced cheap stainless system that the mounts will fall off and the tail pipes will be 2ft long.
I'm quite keen to see how long the engines last with Ktec maps on them. Watch them all expire before the end of the first race lol
I'd rather s**t in my hands and clap. It sounds like the racing equivalent of selling your soul to the devil.
Also, KTEC racing maps, actual LOL!
"Here, come and race, using a company who's mapping has destroyed countless engines. Don't worry though kids, KTEC will rebuild for £10,999 plus VAT"
It should be more along the lines of
Any Mk2 Renaultsport
Standard suspension, or coilovers (maybe with a max RRP)
Any exhaust
15" wheels (for costs) (widths and tyre size could be fixed)
Any discs and pads with standard calipers and no brackets for larger discs etc
Standard transmission
IDK on management tbh
I can't be arsed to look it up as I'm on my phone but are the regs for the other single makes restrictive to the point of forcing you to buy from one company like this?
Class A: Mk1 MR2
Class B: Mk2 MR2
Class C: Mk3 MR2 (MR2 Roadster / MR-S)
Engine
Engines may only be prepared within the specifications laid down in Toyota's workshop manual. All engine internals must be standard or standard pattern parts and the factory ECU must be retained. Induction and exhaust systems are free (excluding manifolds).
Class A: 1.6l 4AGE 122BHP
Class B: 2.0l 3SGE 158BHP / 172BHP
Class C: 1.8l 1ZZFE 138BHP
Suspension
Suspension is free but may not be adjustable, with the exception of anti-roll bars. Uprated dampers, lowered springs and polyurethane bushes may be used.
Brakes
Brake disks must remain standard or standard pattern while brake pad material is free. Braided brake hoses may be used and ABS systems where fitted as standard may be retained.
Transmission
Standard gearbox, gear ratios and final drive must be retained. Factory limited slip differentials may only be used on class C cars as these were standard equipment. No other class may use an LSD.
Wheels
Wheels must be standard diameter, width and offset for each class of vehicle.
When is the race at Silverstone? can I enter as an invitation car and see what the difference is.
Regs don't mention exhaust? So standard exhaust? Kiss goodbye to your grid!
24th and 25th of August
The MR2 series...
So it seems they could actually have opted for a similar ruling with the management as per the mr2 series?
Wonder if its too late for them to change? Should have come here first lol
When we spoke to 750mc at the Autosport show in Jan, they didn't really seem to know what they were on about. I think they had been misguided by outside agents as to what was required.
Insisting on 182 Cups for a start, this is a no goer, and does that suspension fit a cup hub??
Keeping 16" wheels is silly, as said above, the tyres are so much more expensive.
I wish you luck with this, but I think I will stick with the French Trophy series run by Track Attack.
Plus we don't have to go to one supplier for suspension or an ECU.
Repeating what's been said, seems like ktec have won a watch here!
These pointless regs are only going to put people off. I wonder how a ktec ECU'd car would compare to a OEM one. That could be a funny test to watch!
Adds 40bhp iircI wonder how a ktec ECU'd car would compare to a OEM one. That could be a funny test to watch!
I just want to reinforce that 750MC is a very well ran motorclub and one of the oldest in the U.K with some of the most popular race series. Top boys and girls just incase anyone was thinking differently
I wasn't saying otherwise Sam, a lot of people started racing with them.
I just think it is an opportunity missed.
Absolute opportunity missed. How many on here wold already be at least halfway to having a car that could compete if the rules were rewritten similar to what Anonymous posted above. If I did still have my 172 Cup that would have been exactly what I was waiting for.
Will also echo comments about the 750MC. Always been a good club from what I've read/heard.
