The rocker cover gets fooking boiling when the engine is running so just bake it on by running the engine.

That crinkle paint does look nice, it'll make a big difference to the engine bay.

Sadly, no videos yet. I'm thinking of buying a go pro motorsport, so lots of videos would follow if I were to do that. :D

Looking forward to getting it sprayed. The rest of the engine bay has come up really well; much better than I expected actually. The tanks, etc look brand new!

I had another go at the rocker cover this afternoon with Gunk engine degreaser and it's looking better. I think it's about ready to be sprayed now. :)

Ah and while I remember, I found an issue with the Prima Racing uprated exhaust mount earlier! Really disappointed with it! :dapprove:

While sorting a slight blow on the exhaust, it was discovered that the Prima mount (after only being on a car a couple of months) has been wearing away!

You can see from the photo where the centre hole (which started life perfectly circular like the others) has worn away!

I don't think I'll send it back, as I don't have another mount to use on the car if this one is removed. :(

I'll contact Prima and email them the photo, see what they suggest. ;)

I'll have a look tomorrow - Mines a brand new renauly system so if it's doing it with that they're simply not good enough. Think mines been fitted for about 4-5 weeks.

I think the rocker cover looks much improved now I've had another go at cleaning it; should be clean enough to get spraying now, I would think.

Looks fantastic! How about a bailey header tank? I think that would look great...

Oh and what happened to the heat sheild you had planned?

I'd have a bailey or forge header tank if they were the same finish as the catch tank, rather than the polished finish they come in. :(

The nimbus heat shield is actually sitting next to me. ;) Spraying the engine tomorrow morning, so hopefully get this on too.

Looks really nice all back together.... Get the TB off and painted up ;) Mines already sprayed up in anthracite so I may have to re-do it Black when I get my car back.

looks absolutely spot on!
just wondered, as i've only ever seen my 182 engine bay - how come you have a huge gap on the left, is that where my air con or something is? yours looks very minimal!

Vibrotechnic engine mount looks slightly different. His setup still clearly has his aircon

Ollie, the car looks great, have been following the thread.

I’m going to spray mine using the Wrinkle Plus paint too (red though), did you need to use a primer first?

I hadn't thought about doing the TB, would be good! It seems more effort taking it off though haha! I'll probably just leave it as it is! :eek:

As Silent_Scone says, it's most likely the different upper engine mount (vibratechnics); they appear visibly simpler in design to the original Renault item. :)

Nope, no primer was used. Just make sure you get all the grease, oil, dirt off before spraying it or the paint won't take properly. :)


I've also just given the upper engine mount bolts their first coat of paint. They look much better already! :D
