Ouch..... bruised tomato. Goodbye Trophy 328

  Golf R
I was involved in a crash 5 weeks ago on my way home from stevev6's which saw the car written off. In avoiding a car my side of the road on a country lane I managed to destroy a fence, avoid a house and end up resting on a railway sleeper in someone elses front garden.

The first piece of fence as the pictures show was pretty harmless enough, although my reactions must have kicked in to avoid the fence pole from the next section of picket fencing which came through the windscreen and finished up touching the back window, taking a chunk out of my neck as it passed.

I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story, I don't know the full damage to the car as I left the scene in am ambulance but i have been told there was major subframe damage amongst other cosmetic damage :

  No more clio's for me!
Sh1t!!!

Looking at the damage to the windscreen and steering wheel, i'd say you lucky to be here chap, could have been sooooo much worse!! Glad you escaped with minimal injuries :)

That's really bad mate :(. I hope the person driving on the wrong side of the road is living with a lot of guilt. Look at it this way though. That fence pole could have killed you if it was a few inches closer to your head so at least you're okay now. Health always comes first. Good luck with the nwe cup.

same as fred doesnt actually look that bad windscreen/bumper/subframe come to think of it my car was worse then that and its back into perfecto condition now :) does put more sense into you though

182 manifold for sale?

Seeing as Gareth is offline I'll explain a bit.

Yes, the damage doesn't seem that much, but obviously there is more to it than meets the eye. If the subframe needs replacing then potentially the shell could be bent, and that could in theory mean a fair amount of expensive repair work to then realise than the car was dead anyway. Also the impact with the railway sleeper (not really a soft object remember) could have damaged the Trophies expensive suspension beyond what is actually visable to the naked eye. From a insurance position it would just be easier to write off the car.

Ouch, that's such a sad sight :( It looks really bad, glad you are ok, you must of been very lucky. At least you've got another one on it's way :)

  ST on the way...
Thats a real shitter mate, hope your ok!!

Makes you think when things like that happen.

that was a write off??? blimey, doesn't look bad (apart from the bloody hole through the screen!)

one other thing which i neglected to mention earlier on in my post is that the steering wheel was almost clean ripped off, it was sat in my lap by the time the car came to rest on the railway sleeper. i took out a fair bit of fencing as well as moving the railway sleeper a fair old distance.

Steve ended up removing the fuses from under the bonnet as smoke started billowing out from round the steering rack.

In addition, i was told that the front section of the exhaust was crushed to buggery, even though it looked perfectly straight from behind the car. That folks is all i know.... i don't even know whether the car will be sold as salvage or scrapped

  Golf R
Oh and for those of you that have PM'd me asking after various parts..... in all honesty i don't know where the car is, i removed all my personal possessions about 3 weeks ago and thats the last i've seen of the car.

my insurance company have settled with me so as to whether the car will be scrapped or salvaged i don't know.....

  182 Trophy
Lucky escape. Id see about gettin the car back if possible to break for parts. Smashed an escort rs turbo up years ago, bought it back from the insurance for 10% of what they payed me out. Got more than that just from selling the wheels n exhaust

  Leon Cupra R 225
they make like 10 trophy's and you f**king write one off. useless. and now buying another.... could at least ruin a peugeot or something instead.
