Socom is awesome, I played confrontation for weeks!

You can really tell it's the same BC2 engine, right down to the noise you make when you jump and throwing grenades and the hit markers lol.

I like it though, played 2 hours online last night, Got a positive KD ratio aswell so I'm chuffed lol.

Darren, I know exactly what you mean. BFBC2, for me, could've been amazing (and in some respects is). I enjoyed using vehicles, teams actually working together to complete objectives, and the array of weapons. The destructible environment was brilliant, especially satisfying when you brought a house down on top of a camping sniper.

However, for me, the bugs in the first few weeks of release made it unplayable, and really put me off. I was particularly annoyed seeing as they had made such a big deal of the beta beforehand. I keep meaning to give it another go, but the people I usually play with have also been put off :(

Edit: btw, if you haven't tried it, CODMW2 co-op is really good fun, especially the juggernaut missions.

Im still yet to the the massive juggernaught missions on MW2...ME and my mate get down to the last 3 then die :(

We are determined not to do it the cheat way too.

You really should - especially if you team up with three other decent players - it would be proper rewarding. Speaking of which, I'm not sure why DICE dropped the squad size down to 4 people. On BF2142 it was upto 6 members in a squad and worked well. Then again, being able to instantly spawn on one of your squad mates would make a mockery with 6 people. Imagine a squad of 6 medics in BC2, all with M60's and Magnum ammo?? It would be like half-a-dozen Chuck Norris's going for the objective! ;)

Picking up Medal of Honour on the way home tonight - I'll let you know how it goes. :)

Yeah, I played with my clan (no jokes please), however they've gone back to MW2/CSS. Maybe I'll add you on Steam, and join one of your games :p I can't fly the choppers for sh*t though.

Lol - no worries - neither can I! I did get to a 'flyable' level of ability on the gunships of Battlefield 2142, but I've been crap in any other BF game!

Tanks, however...... :evil:

edit - no VoiP for me though. I'm maxed out on 1.2-1.5mbps - I need every bit of bandwidth I can get...

I bought this today and had a quick go on multiplayer before I came to work.
I thought it was quite good! Very different to COD though, some bits harder and some easier. For example - you have to hit someone with about 10 bullets to kill them (unless you get a headshot).
It's much harder to spot your enemy than in COD, which is better. This game is ideal for snipers by the looks of it too. No killcam is also an excellent idea.
I'm going to hammer it tonight and see how I get on. Good initial impressions though from somebody with no experience of battlefield.

Yeah enjoyed it too, been playing single player for a few hours too, it's annoying having a different engine and some of the fine detail is abit dodge but the big landscapes are excellent and the missions are fun, especially in the hut at the bottom of the valley being over run... Scary shiz.

Only problem I can see with Multi is the lack of maps/gametypes/customisation which all lend to longevity but so far really enjoying it.

Jeez it's getting some awful reviews online this game, especially the muliplayer aspect.
Chokepoints/bottlenecks, not being able to move when shot, respawn issues, chat issues and squad members being on opposing sides!

The campaign is good fun, thought I'd try it on medium difficulty first and I found it very very easy. Finished it and I'm a bit disappointed its all over tbh. Lets go online now and see what its like.

And if you're still dissapointed just think of it as some extra maps for BC2 plus you get a beta invite for BC3.

Hmm played a couple of hours on the SP, it's good but just doesn't seem polished enough to be called a finished product; glitchy.

MP I've hardly touched it so far, jumped on for a couple of quick games and it's gonna take some getting used to, seems alright though but not as easy to pick up and play like MW2 and BFBC2.

Guessing some people must have rinsed the beta as they knew it like the back of their hand and were showing some stupidly high ranks.

I'll give it a blast over the weekend, if I don't get addicted I'll go trade it in. HMV are rumoured to be giving a guaranteed £30 for it...

Got to agree with Sym0n's comments above. At best, I'd give the SP mode so far a 6.5/10. It doesn't bring anything new to the table and is miles off the production values of BC2 and especially Infinity Ward's products for the SP campaign. I've put about two hours into it so far and while I'll definitely complete it, I'm not 'enjoying' it like I did with the MW, MW2 and BC2 campaigns. It all feels about four years ago. :(

By far the biggest issue I've had so far is the fact that your AI buddies can give you ammo. All well and good, except the prompt for 'Press Delete to request ammo' comes up whenever your bloody well get near a member of your team. Message - GTFO!

It does look pretty, whilst not being stunning. It doesn't in any shape or form stretch current PC hardware - even with everything maxed out and at 1920x1200. I guess I'll have to wait for Crysis 2 to do that test for me! :)

I'd like to tell you what the MP aspect is like, but it's not logging on with the EA account that I've had for years. Oh well, I'll complete the SP bit first and then try online again. So far its alright, but nothing special....

Yeah same mate. Couple of very good rounds but also some shockers. Just gotta get used to it.

Nightmare on that freeze mate it's happened to me on BC2 a few times when I've had a good round.
