Excellent results, shows mileage isn't an issue for getting good results on these engines.

Excellent work Russ and Paul... for years I was (badly) informed by *** and co that there was simply no way on earth that the standard ECU was capable of running bodies. Nice to see it proven otherwise, as this will now prove a very cost effective mod. Between this and JMS' manifold it's going to seriously cut into these companies flogging over priced ITB kits and the like 
Makes me want to buy another 172 to put bodies on!

As said, I think as long as an engine is looked after, it doesnt matter about miles, shows they still make the power Yes mate, I need to tidy the wiring up still lol

Thanks matey, I too was told it couldnt be done, but once we had sat down and really thought about it, we thought it was well worth the gamble! I think Paul had a blast mapping it too, bearing in mind that was its first session, Im getting a different filter, new exhaust and tidying a few bits up then im popping back up to see Paul, and hopefully make it even better
I just cant get over how nicely it drives, the obligitory(sp?) noise and speedo vids will be up in due course
Oh and if anyone wants to have a look just let me know, local meet soon?

Looks like great work, depending upon the price of the JMS item that is to come, I may be going down this route myself, you and Daniel can come stay at "cassa de rob" and help me out one weekend

Interestingly I've heard more than one or two people say that f4rs open right up at that sort of mileage if well kept

Good intelligent development work. The standard management is more than capable - it's just making the parts fitted work with it and acessing it for mapping. Once you've overcome those two hurdles your well on your way
Knowing the Jenvey prices and all the other bits and bobs you've had done by mates I'd be suprised if this is under a 1.5 - 1.7k build for a walk in customer, especially if you add fitting & mapping into the equation.

Very true Tom, im very impressed with the flexibilty of the ECU
On the money side, I managed to do it cheap, but buying new i would imagine you would be right, buying 2nd hand itb's would make it considerably cheaper and probably a more viable option, sorry I should have stated that in my original post, though even at £1500 its worth it for the noise alone lol
It also depends on what bodies you buy, as me I went DCOE so I needed the adaptors etc, so price will vary, still gives a good option to the usual kits that are for sale

Russ, this is outstanding, I really can not say any more then that! The amount of work you and your helping hands have obviously put into all of this and getting the figures you achieved, I could not imagine you with out a grin extending from ear to ear.

Its the torque thats the best thing,over 150lb ft from just over 4000 revs all the way up to approx 6700, it pulls as hard at 4000 as it does at 6000 lol, its a joy to drive

It was fun to do! Id be happy to do it all again, now I know what im doing, mines going to have a lot more develpment yet as there are some areas I want to improve on, some new brackets, il update as it goes
