Poor LCD picture on Sky

  RenaultSport clio 172
Ive just got one of those Samsung 32inch LCD's and the picture is amazing on the 360 but for some reason i feel that the sky picture isnt the best, whats wrong? its kind of grainy even compared to my old 23inch CRT. Do i need a better scart or something?

The picutre on Sky Digical was better on my 32 " flat screen Sony CRT TBH. But the HD on my new Tosh is 10000x better. Compromise I guess.

Mine was s**t until i brought a profit gold scart lead with pure copper core to reduce electrical interferance.

I will never understand why people spend hundreds on a hdtv then connect equipment to it using shitty high street scart leads.

Try a good quality scart lead mate

Sky output is really bad.

Try most of the above, but other then getting a HD source you wont get much better quality.

Also different channels are compressed more then others. Most of the News channels are good quality... see what there like on yours.

Also make sure your sitting further back from the telly ;)

Should be some options mate to reduce noise on the SD channels. Try searching AVforums for some decent settings for your model.

cheers peeps, think ill try a gold scart lead, its not awful, i guess im being picky but i just think its a little snowy!

Do you think sky have downgraded the picture quality since bringing HD out to make people buy HD?

  SLK 350
No.

What your forgetting is that theres been XX generations of CRT televisions which over the years have developed means of filtering the shoddy signal through terrestrial. These HDTV's are exactly that, designed for HD input, until they switch analogue off you're not going to benefit from the HD side of things without subscribing to SkyHD or getting on board the BBC trials.

Fraid it's a case of getting yourself a decent cable, and messing with the settings to find one which makes it more enjoyable to watch.

I've certainly noticed the difference in channels. Sky Sports 1 is one of the worst offenders too unfortunately. I've got a gold monster scart lead and have output set to RGb but it's still only average at best. be lovely when they're all HD though.
