The front end is pretty poor now tbh. This year was meant to be the year it got painted but more important things to spend money on come June.

Well thats it on 105,000 miles now and I've just thrown money at it. Ordered up new track rods, track rod ends, steering rack bushes and cup wishbones from renault Wolverhampton and will get it tracked up at CLCM as usual.

Hopefully that'll get rid of the slight knock when rocking the wheel back and forward when stationary and the tiny bit of play that has developed since the end of last year. Once thats done it'll be back out on track again. Really want to get some 20mm spacers for the front having seen Dr Jekyll's but this has cost a bit so it'll just have to wait.

£60 a side. I last put wishbones and balljoints on not long after I bought it at 40k so they've done well!
Na was low when I bought it but I've done as much as 25k in a year some years

Lol I buy them for driving, not gradual dismantling! Aye it's dropped a bit these days, about 12k this year but 2500 was that big trip. It barely covered any miles for a couple of years which has kept it below average for its age.

Aye I just figured they cost the same so why not try the cup ones.

Splashing out yo.
Figured the track rods and steering bushes will last another 100k, wishbones 50k plus and the non gen track rods are on their way after 20k so f**k it, may as well do it properly for a change. Not gonna lie, it hurt though!

Aye that would!

I got new free polybushes for my wishbones and went for the nylon rack bushes that were being made on here. Then fia ball joints, inner rods and ends for £70, can replace every year at that and not mind!

Yours does no miles Fraz, it'll last longer than mine going over Edinburgh roads!

Circa £300 mate I think. It was a big order with bits for other cars as well. Have a look in the Renault Wolverhampton section, I think Adam had a frequently asked prices bit

Random pic from a wee drive out yesterday. This is about the distance you need to be away from it to not see the missing paint

The brakes started to feel quite s**t all of a sudden this week. Ok on gentle braking but on anything mildly harder it just made no difference.

They've done 3 track days but none since July last year, only road miles since so its a bit odd. Glad I checked them though

DS2500 btw. And with plenty of space to move about the calipers so I'm surprised if they overheated. But who knows.

Anyway, £14 Apec ones from the local factors now in and will do for now.

The end of a busy week for me and the Clio. As well as fixing my mums and my brothers clio I did the work to this too. Not gonna lie, the bushes were a pain in the tits! Will be quicker next time though.

Didn't take a huge amount of pics as I rather just get on with it but got a few.

Started with the wishbones, the old ones are 60k ish old and tbh, not too bad but saw no point in not changing them

02A7C4EF-811D-463F-A923-38535FCEF2C2_zpsnk2hoccc.jpg

Then I went onto the track rods and rod ends, thanks to @mad in general for the loan of the tool, it made it a cinch!

E2B969A5-B16C-4517-8B8D-8E5A9AD579C6_zpscfgx5pes.jpg

These were pretty worn, which I always like, hate taking off parts to find they are fine!

So then it was onto the ARB bushes, the outers were defo spent!

C7EE721D-E37D-4746-8359-D5903B60582C_zpsfctpgyvk.jpg

And so were the inners

4184185B-5CA8-49B1-AA51-642FD2F0F6E0_zpsnkoiusqk.jpg

Managed this whilst refitting the inners

78BDC880-C979-48AD-836D-2228F82481A3_zps5stjepsx.jpg

Whoops! I don't have any pics of the rack bushes but tbh, they were fine, bit shiny and 1 was worse than the other but they had plenty life left in them.

Then we went away for a couple of days in the laguna and on return it was time to do an engine and box oil change as well as fit the DS3000 and superblue that @g172 supplied in double quick time as usual. After all that I took it to CLCM to get the alignment done. This threw up a couple of issues, firstly the left front is running 2.5 degrees of camber and the right is 1.5. No camber bolts fitted and obviously a brand new balljoint so thats a bit weird. Annoyingly though the track rods are bottoming out on the ends and its having to run toe in atm. I'll have to cut 5mm or so off each one to allow toe out. Irritating when its brand new genuine parts but I guess Renault just don't quite cater for ph1s as well as they used to!

Still, it drives straight and tight so onto the spanner check for the 4 hour OPL at Knockhill. This is when I noticed the rear pads were finished

48B41CFE-7C6E-42A6-B63E-D2FB4930A8B3_zpsdssaldjj.jpg

So off I go to buy some £9 cheapies from the local factors. Come back home to fit them and notice the wheel well is soaking wet, figure its been a wet day but thats very wet. Fit the pads and then connect the eezibleed as I may as well flush them whilst I'm here. Thats when I see brake fluid pishing out of the pipe just where the handbrake cable runs over it. f**k! No decent pipes anywhere to do a straight swap but @Fraser.J. very kindly came over from Fife with a brake flaring kit and joined a ph2 pipe I had lying about to the good bit still attached to my car. Got it all sorted and the track day was back on, I'd call him a true gent but we all know thats a lie x

Get the other brakes bled and call it a night about 8, or 1 hour after the family dinner was meant to start!

Quite a few pics that have been linked to here www.facebook.com/cliosportscotland but the stand out one has to be this one from @w33_brl who caught a very accidental slide!

The others are on FB so I don't think I can hotlink to them but theres a few really good ones by various folk so thanks for that.

At the end of the day I had done

track miles at an average of

whilst getting

And it would seem we stopped just at the right time! The front left did not have long left at all!

Got a few videos that I'll tack together as well but it was a great day and good to see new and familiar faces there.

The car is now just about to tick over 106k and hopefully a lot of this work will see it going for another 100k!

front hub will be bent causing that camber, ive had it happen on the red 172 and blue twingo, I would have thought the hub was the strongest part but for some reason it wasn't!

Finally got round to fitting the bumper the other week, it's not perfect but its a lot better than the old one.

Started as this

CABB95ED-C92F-47F3-91EE-DC1CAF54E96F_zpseezkijhn.jpg

And now looks like this

5EB2E4E4-D8B7-4C8A-AB17-8D47C2DE7A64_zpswy8bqec3.jpg

4A8C4675-3448-441D-8D19-1740BC16B9A4_zpssgst8fz0.jpg

Obviously it now has a number plate but I want to fit a less scuffed splitter so will do that soon.

It also needs a mot which means it needs tyres that still have a pattern on them fitted so for the first time since march it looks like this

709AE8BC-29A5-4D90-A41E-EC1A5118CA4D_zps2erzcer7.jpg

And I clearly need to sort the camber out ASAP!

Got some in the footwell! Aye it's a tiny bit darker but it's way better than it was!

Now MOT'd too :) took the long way to work this morning kicking it's head in and laughing for most of it! I should really grow up but I don't see the incentive!

So yeah, 9 months since I've posted in this. You'd hope that the update would be huge and interesting but tbh, until about 6 weeks ago the car mostly looked like this

7B97D2F9-2532-49CB-A1E0-97CA38896E29_zpsq18vq2ir.jpg

Its not that I don't still love the car, its more a complete lack of time and money has stopped much happening. Until now! Nothing all that interesting, just small improvements and a bit of time on it. Enjoyed doing it tbh, cars had become quite a chore over the last while.

Had enough of the cheap shite aftermarket clear repeaters (free to anyone who collects them)

FAF7DA08-6D78-4D4A-96B7-F2E876CD45F6_zpstkkrzj3c.jpg

and went back to the standards

915B4805-C00E-42CF-BBDA-486CB430654E_zpshvlxh4w5.jpg

Think they work better on flame anyway. Funny how tastes change over the years.

Also been planning on getting this retrimmed

7FA5BA72-AD86-4091-A409-2ACD81909418_zpszqne7iug.jpg

But then a ready retrimmed one came up for sale so that got bought and the old one sold, made for a cheap retrim for me even if its not exactly what I was going to have.

4B1FDEFB-E7C0-4BAC-8865-015BA88C6166_zpsxw6mlqyq.jpg

And after a mere 2 years and a month since I broke my hazard switch I fixed it and refitted it!

4623D4F2-DD38-41EA-9FBA-5E8CCD29FE72_zps7g1x1t8g.jpg

This has annoyed me since doing the conversion but never knew there was anything I could do about it until recently.

610C8BD9-5D01-488F-B587-5B5AA3E2C6D9_zps96s1a5gh.jpg

So for £3 I know have this

982378F4-5AEA-4993-9425-B9F8F18ECD4E_zpsodl55nvy.jpg

And once again changed the mats, had a few sets now! But the old ones were defo done

3DF14470-0E5C-481D-B7FF-9BD51597E076_zpskapvkmvy.jpg

I've also got loads of other interior bits to go in to fully finish off the conversion like 182 silver seat belts, bolt covers, ph2 grab handles and cheap ass fake alcantara for the roof lining. Just need a full day at it to get it all done, dunno when that'll happen though!

Also I not only cleaned it, I polished it too for the Scottish Car Show. I then got it covered in mind in the middle of losing my temper about the piss poor organisation of the show and had to quick detail it back to this

Oh and still not fitted the camber bolts so destroyed my winters! Have ordered front konis though. And new topmounts. When I fit them I'll get the bolts in and then getting the alignment done.

That looks pretty sweet!

How did you manage to get your Ph2 steering surround to fit so perfect? Mine just wont line up no matter how much i push it into place

Just ordered a blank too :)

I'm not 100% happy with it tbh, it's not quite right but it's more on the other side that you can tell!
There are a couple of small bits of wood hidden behind there that it's screwed into!

Maybe you can only get one side right!
My left side sits slightly too low. Not by much but enough to irritate me.
Dunno what advice I could give tbh, it's been about 2.5 years since I did it!
