  182 Cup & DCi 172
Re: My Inferno Orange 182 Project Thread - Fast Road/Occasional track day car....

Big thanks to George (G 172) for sorting me out a cracking deal on a full upgrade on the 182.

Ordered the following last night at 17:20:

- Brembo Max front discs
- Brembo front pads
- Renault rear discs with ABS rings and bearings
- Brembo rear pads
- Goodridge phantom stainless brake lines
- Super Blue Racing brake fluid

At 10:43 this morning my neighbour picked up my delivery - fantastic service!

Will happily order from George again

Well another day another mini update - got some black gold mirror caps fitted and also a renault boot net.

Also waiting for the following to arrive ready to fit:

- Pure Motorsport top mounts and strut brace
- ITG Maxogen
- 2 sets of 16mm alloy spacers
- shorter aerial
- new numberplate light holder

DTM cars will be getting the job of fitting all my new brakes as haven't got the time these days.

Re: My Inferno Orange 182 Project Thread - Fast Road/Occasional track day car....

So quite alot progressed today.

To start with the front of the car was stripped down:

DSC_1049_zps02ef56f7.jpg

Struts as removed from car - dirty and looking tired:

SAM_0255_zps9edb0415.jpg

Cleaned, painted and assembled with new Pure Motorsport top mounts:

SAM_0264_zpsb2fefb2a.jpg

Strut tops drilled and paint covered to prevent issues in the future:

SAM_0262_zps60e84418.jpg

All fitted and matching strut brace fitted:

SAM_0268_zpse7e84de2.jpg

SAM_0276_zpsab6cafc4.jpg

SAM_0278_zps4109a13c.jpg

Also got rid of the standard induction system including the acoustic valve setup:

SAM_0281_zps8e0493eb.jpg

SAM_0280_zps9ebed0e6.jpg

SAM_0275_zpsd5093e3d.jpg

Whilst the front end was off I painted the following in satin black:

- cup splitter
- fog surrounds
- upper grill
- lower grill

SAM_0287_zps4f5b6a5c.jpg

A nice little bargain also turned up courtesy of my brother (Matty1995)

DSC_1054_zps1c964dc0.jpg

So what are my impressions on the upgrades - turn in is now much nicer and nasty top mount knock has now gone. ITG sounds nice, not intrusive and feels slightly smoother.

Just waiting for my spacers to arrive and possibly a few other bits may find there way onto the car.

Re: My Inferno Orange 182 Project Thread - Fast Road/Occasional track day car....

Well fitted the 16mm spacers and unfortunately they are to wide so the wheels sit outside the arches slightly.

No spacers fitted:

SAM_0311_zps34910c5b.jpg

SAM_0309_zps56b59079.jpg

Spacers on:

SAM_0312_zpsef100a7c.jpg

SAM_0302_zpsbd454f7f.jpg

SAM_0299_zpsb445ea09.jpg

So they have been removed and decided I will get some 10mm spacers with a Pure Motorsport stud conversion.

With that disappointment gone I cracked on with some minor bits, new rear numberplate light and fit the front induction kit bracket that my standard airbox never had:

Missing bracket:

SAM_0295_zps30bea004.jpg

I struggled to get a second hand one and was quoted £20-30 for a second hand one which seemed like robbery so I got onto Renault and got a brand new one for £10 delivered.

SAM_0292_zps473e51e1.jpg

All fitted and induction kit aligned:

SAM_0296_zps715345f1.jpg

Also changed the tired looking numberplate light:

Re: My Inferno Orange 182 Project Thread - Fast Road/Occasional track day car....

Shame about the spacers mate, the willy wheels must be a lot wider than Turini's.

Got the same air filter as me ;)

Also liking the BG mirror caps! :)

Re: My Inferno Orange 182 Project Thread - Fast Road/Occasional track day car....

Is a shame but always a way with other spacers.

The spending is nearly done, it is just my cheap daily hack but like it to be smart enough and not bland.

Got all the brakes, exhaust and Turini's tucked away ready to be fitted when time allows so progress will be made.

Cant wait for the snow to come now haha

The air filter makes a lovely induction note - not to over the top. Have you had a remap on yours or just the exhaust and induction kit? Thinking of getting a remap to make the mods work together

I don't want it to snow! :p

Yeah it's no where near as loud as my old K&N one though.

Not had a remap on mine mate. Want to get the 98 RON map at some point though.

The 98 RON map does wonders :) shame about the spacers :\ what size you looking at getting now front and rear? 10mm rear 15mm front?

Re: My Inferno Orange 182 Project Thread - Fast Road/Occasional track day car....

98 map is something I have been looking at, not fussed on spacers just if any come up cheap I will try them haha.

I was planning coilovers for summer but after spending a day around the North Yorkshire Moors today I don't think they are required -perfect turn in, little body roll and loads of grip.

Only gripe is the exhaust still needs doing as it doesn't sound very secure and the winter tyres have more sidewall flex but that's nothing in all honesty

Re: My Inferno Orange 182 Project Thread - Fast Road/Occasional track day car....

Had a visit to MB Motorsport today to get the Milltek catback exhaust and decat.

I had filled some standard exhaust hangers with silicon and rubber to make them last compared to the normal mounts.

Fitted this and am very happy with the noise and quality - is quite a quiet system but very well made.

Old Vs. New - Never realised how heavy then standard exhaust was until today:

Is that with no spacers at all at the moment, Rob? You still opting for 10mm spacers and PMS stud and nut kit?

No spacers on at all - I will be looking at the PMS stud and nut kit but not sure on spacers - I have the Williams wheels and a set of Cup Turini's but there may be a change coming instead of the Turini's.

Well a Christmas update - carbon time!

I bought these Carbon foglight blanks but not 100% on them when I tried them on the car - unfortunately I did forget to take a picture.

I have flattened them back a little bit and repolished them with my machine polisher and they look lovely but may end up for sale again.

Well it seems I cant help but buy parts these days.

With some help from Stu. I seemed to have obtained the hardware for a GT25 turbo conversion as well as yet another set of Speedline wheels, now 2108's to go with the Turini's and Willy wheels.

Here are some pics of the newly acquired parts:

The GT25 conversion will not be instant and will be built up over the next 6 months ready to be fitted. Thinking of Ktec pistons and rods as well to ensure reliability as well.

Going to get a wheel on the car tomorrow so can decide what colour for the refurb.

Lovely car Robbie, surprised i've not seen it before. Tidy example and now going for proper power.

So are those genuine Willy wheels? Always loved them on the 182, seem to suit Titanium and BG really well.

They are some form of racing replica Williams wheels - no Renault stamp but they are really light and only have small weights to keep them balanced rather than horrendously made ones that need 60-90 grams of weight to keep them in balance.

Honestly? I had them on the standard 182 wheels and loved them - a lad I know runs them on his 670bhp Escort Cosworth and its no bother on them.

Wouldn't use them on track but for an everyday tyre they are ideal

Not sure if you had some of the earlier ones but they are awesome tyres in all honesty. I normally use Yokohama Paradas or AD08's for summer but the wet weather performance isn't great - the V12's make excellent everyday tyres so will be used instead.

Well more parts have been sorted for the Beany Boost conversion.

Currently on way to me are:

- Vibratechnics upper engine mount
- Vibratechnics gearbox mount
- R26 fuel rail with injectors
- R26 spark plugs

Got a nice carbon rear wiper plate fitted as well:

A set of Magnecor HT leads have also been sourced:

Also with being off work I thought I would get the alignment sorted:

Will be adding camber bolts ready for when the 16" speedlines going on in March as well

Mainly parts sourcing at present ready for the turbo conversion
