Recommending Elephant

They beat anyone I asked.

Bloke on the phone was also nice guy, said he'd seen the 182 on Top Gear and loved it, that he LIKED Clarkson and his missus has the same birthday as me (halloween) and he teases her about it.

I love call centres in this country.

Im going through a quote with elephant at the moment... superb service, and theyre all welsh, so nice to be able to talk to someone who understands you... cheap to add mods to the policy too, on average £25-£50 a year per mod :)

Only problem ive had is they've bumped my premium up beyond belief because of one accident that wasnt even my fault (still fighting for liability) and may have to sell the car if cant get it cheaper...

Even if you get it sorted and it ends up in your favour as a "no fault" accident, Admiral group could well still penalize you. I was on the receiving end of a small shunt whilst queuing a couple of years back and altho' I was totally blameless and everything was settled quickly Admiral/Elephant stick £150 on the cost of a policy as soon as I tick the "accident in last 3 years box". Admittedly it's on a group 20 car so maybe they're more cautious but even so the idea of being penalized for doing nothing wrong makes my blood boil . When I spoke to them about the stupidity of their policy they said that their statistics show that if you've had a "no fault" accident in the last 3 years you're more likely to have a "fault" accident. So basically "computer says no" and I told them that their inflexibility lost them my business.

It's a shame tho' since they are the most competitive insurers out there. Despite my frequent ranting about their policies ... you can be certain that I'll be using them again in the future since I'm not one to pay more for my insurance simple because I bear a grudge!

Do police peeps get lower insurance than others? I don't mean a mason's type discount, just lower 'cause of the profession?

I paid £700 on Directline, would've been around the £600 mark if they didn't class at fault crashes differently to other insurers:mad:

Some insurers give you cheaper insurance I believe.

I actually called an Insurer with a dedicated "Blue Light Scheme" for trained Police Drivers and the lowest they quoted was £2k! They said they'd try and get it lower but never called me back.

Greenlight were competitive but Elephant was the best coming in at £779.45. Its the lowest I've ever paid on ANY car.

And I have no idea what the masons are all about either!

Elephant are the cheapest by far for me too. It's always between them and Admiral, varies with who comes out cheaper, but not by alot, this year it was about £100 difference though!

Has anyone above tried bell?

Ive just done a re-quote (due to this daft claim thing), and its come out a grand less... :)

Bell are the same company as Admiral, Elephant and Diamond, so they usualy come out fairly cheap too, but they are the dearest out of them all for me.
