Shed Motorsport BTB Exhaust System - Slight changes, new PRICE!

  clio 200 F4Rt
After some feedback and response, we feel that our BTB exhaust system could be a bit more user friendly, and more competitivly priced.

We are having the system changed, into a Cat Back system.

This has 2 main advantages:

1) Those not wanting to de-cat thier car, dont have to, but still end up with best system money can buy.

2) Those that do want to de-cat can, with the use of our de-cat pipe (coming soon) or any other de-cat on the market, still with the ease of replacing the cat come MOT time.

This would mean, that we could sell the Cat Back system out for:

£595.00

again, this is delivered OR fitted, with genuine gasket kit, plus Shed Motorsport sticker.

We would like to start taking deposits if people want one.

let us know your thoughts etc.

pics can be found at: http://public.fotki.com/shedmotorsport/

Many thanks, Mat@shedmotorsport.com

Just looked at the pics on your website. Its a nice looking exhaust (shame you cant see most of it when its on!)

Its a much more realistic price IMO.

Whats the config of the exhaust? Is it still three silencers.

Does it effect the power gain?

Why is it so much cheaper?

How loud is it going to be with a decat?

Is there a group buy discount?

Buying stuff from btb is not a cheap exercise. The reason the price has come down so much is mainly due to the price of the BTB decat, if we were to sell this seperately it would go out to you guys at more than £300!!!! If we take the BTB decat out you can see how the price tumbles, the new mid section that we've got to have prototyped is a little more expensive than the old one but in total there is still a big saving even once you've factored in the price of a decat. I can't give a price on how much our de-cat will be but it will be competitively priced and TIG welded to match the quality of the rest of the system.

With an alternative de-cat to the BTB i would expect the gains to be the same. I can't comment on how the gains will be affected with a std cat still present.

The noise test of 86db was performed with the decat in place. The new exhaust will be exactly the same as the old one from the front expansion box back (i.e just the two rear boxes) The price is based on us getting together about 5 orders with us keeping another 2 as stock, although we'll have to play it by ear on this as we want to give you guys the best deal possible.

How about this? tell me how much you'd ideally like to pay (please be realistic!) and i'll tell you how many orders we need to be able to offer this price.

Cheers guys

Joe

Going to watch this thread for a while now cause ben is one of the guys a respect in terms of his opinion on things. Shall be interested to know what you think of this system ben!

  clio 200 F4Rt
BenR - a mystery to us too, Despite us talking to BTB!

Hence why we dont want to use it in the system. And it also makes alot of sense to leave it out, with reference to the CAT, MOT time etc.

it looks like a good system, but i'm just wondering why that particualr part would cost so much. Its not exactly a complex component or using alot of material.

Even the most outrageously well built decat i've had has cost me £98

  vx220
I have read before actually that ben does respect btb's work! Im more than aware of this system being more than an off the shelf product and thats what appeals to me. Ive got an afflicition in life and its wanting to buy the best of everything, and its a costly one at that. On a serious note though i hope everything with this system goes well! Thanks for keeping us all informed and im sure that when funds allow i will be giving you a call.

Must be diamond encrusted!

lol, i've got an affliction where i have to make the best aswell, irrespective of cost lol.

Not wanting to take sheds thread off topic, but if your waiting for the ultimate, it'll be another month or 2....but price wise, wont even be close to what Sheds is now is reduced haha. Its great value at that sort of ££££.

  clio 200 F4Rt
ben - our thinking exactly, we couldnt justify it either. The car goes back to BTB for them to make the necessary adjustments to the system and the jig at the end of the month/early next month.

mja182 - no worries, we want to work closely with people, so we can offer them the very best, and produce and supply what people really want, and not settle for second best.

Now you've gone and got me all curious lol! I wasnt planning on making a decision for another month or two anyway to be honest ben and by the sounds of your system seems i could need that time to sell some other body part on ebay to fund it!

It'll be beyond what most people deem even remotely reasonable, but there will be a few people, who like you, must have the best. It wont be stupid expensive for what you get though.....ah, enough, its Sheds thread...sorry guys!!!!

Thats precisely what i said to btb when i contacted them about it and tbh they never really gave me a straight answer about it.

Well, when you look at things from the point of a premier exhaust manufacturer, the amount of time it takes, the materials and the 'skill' of the person building it (and their wages more importantly) warrent high prices for the systems.

  Integra Type R & 205 Mi16
Those were my thoughts but then decided that theres a limit, especially when the price of the decat is compared with the price of the twin back boxes, the difference in price is surprisingly small. But i think at the end of the day it has been a good thing in a way because by doing it this new way it means that there is an awesome exhaust available at a bargain price. It would be nice to see our system on a big power machine that really warrants such an exhaust to see what it can really do.

Why dont you get a thread 'skickied' in the car parts for sale section.

Just PM a moderator and ask them to do it for you.

why dont you make a 172 version?

i'd love one on me cup
We need to make some money back on this one first! It costs a hell of a lot of money to have them developed. We might be able to come to an arrangement with a 172 owner at some point where we'll pay the development cost and the 172 owner pays for the actual exhaust, it would mean being without their car for 10-14 days. Unless of course i go out and buy a 172! I'm quite keen on my 205 to be honest though.

shame, i think you may have sold more 172 systems as these are mainly the most tuned (bodies/cams etc) and imo if your running that sort of set up you'd want the best exhaust.

where are you based?

  Integra Type R & 205 Mi16
We chose the 182 as
a: we had one available
b: Mat wanted a BTB for his car
c: The 182 will be in the same position as the 172 in terms of the quantity of tuned cars once people warranties expire etc etc.

We're on the south coast near Bognor Regis and Chichester.

Ali - i am a fully paid memeber.

As joe has said, we would like to do a 172 system, and once things are a bit further down the line, we will probably be asking for a donor car!

Cant see anyone letting you borrow their car for two weeks for free, then paying for the exhaust!

Id lend you mine if i got the exhaust for free ;)

  Integra Type R & 205 Mi16
Obviously they would get a reasonably hefty discount off the exhaust but the overheads on producing a system are so high that it would be hard to stomach giving a system away for free. Especially at this stage in the life of Shed Motorsport. We've already spent a small fortune on development of the 182 system and the 4-pot kit.

I know the likes of Magnex give there systems away on development cars, but A: BTB's cost at least double to produce and b: they production quantities are a lot lower. Thats a lot of money just to give away to someone. I'd love for the situation to be different, but i'm afraid its not.

If people are desperate for a 172 BTB then we'll need some help with the development if they want it anytime soon. Maybe further down the line we'll be able to give someone a system in return for their car for a few days, but its not something we can do right now.

If someone is desperate there is nothing to stop them going directly to BTB and have them develop a 172 system for them.
