So after two years of driving and no claims....

  Clio
I get an insurance renewal and they still only want to insure me on a 1.6 16v.

Great, so that leave's the choices of clio dynamique (again), pug 106 rallye, saxo vtr/vts or audi a3 (slow) :dapprove:

looks like il be getting another clio then when I sell mine because I race 106 rallye's so no point having one as a road car aswell and I cant be arsed with a chavy saxo Lol.

ahh well :dapprove: my dreams of getting a ph-quick gone :(

cheers, mike

its because im on my dads trade policy insurance which allows me to drive any vehicle in working hours, but after 6pm its social and pleasure, which only allows me to drive a 1.6.

  Clio
yes but my dad needs my help with his business so been able to drive his vehicles helps him out.

my mate is 21 with just turned 3 years no claims and he has bought a brand new 3 series 2 litre, insurance is only 900

this is similar to the dilema im in...coming up to 21 and been a named driver on parents insurance since 17 which means i've got nothing in terms of a ncd, desperate to get on my own insurance but been quoted silly prices.

And who's fault is that? I took out my own policy as soon as I passed my test, I was driving a Clio 16v when I was 18, Celica GT4 when I was 20, and Ive had a Clio 172 for the last two years, never paid more than 800 for insurance, now paying 500 with full NCB.

im not looking for someone to blame it on, just saying even though i have driven for nearly 4 years insurance is a joke

I'm assuming because of the trade policy you haven't got any no claims? As I insured my 172 with the same details without too much bother (just cost lol).

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
But thats how insurance works, if you have your on policy and dont front it it pays off.

How is it a joke? There is absolutally no evidence that you are a good driver.

lol yes but how do they know that?

Well when you get a quote you have to divulge any claims........

If you have an accident even on a named policy it is still an accident agaisnt your name

But as a "named driver" you arent putting on as many miles as the policy holder so it wouldnt be fair for you to take credit when you arent using it as a daily car like you mum.

A good example is my gf, shes been driving 2 years, on her mothers policy, drives it once a month during term time, then at weekends during holidays, hardly fair giving her ncb is it?

this is why i drove a 1.0l fiesta back in '99 (ins cost £900), then a 1.0l metro, then a diesel metro, then a diesel C3, then a 182 at 22 yrs old after a lengthy period of my own insurance and NCB built up. made it relatively cheap to insure the 182, i paid approx £600 when i got my 182 iirc. My C3 was costing me £280.

People should take the hit when they are young, drive the slow shite and then treat yourself when you start earning some decent wonga :D

This is life.
