Standard clio head unit 04 plate how do i wire up an amp

Car  Golf Mk3 Gti 8v
my brother has just bought a 1.4 dynamieque clio 04 plate with everything standard. there are no pre-outs on the head unit. i have solved that problem by gettin a modulator and then using the back speakers. BUT... how do sort out the remote wire i dont want the battery drained all the time, and i dont want it on a switch any one any ideas thanks joe

i thought that just told a lad a work that option and he says that will need to be on a switch i dont think it would what about you?

Mine was linked to the ignition when I was running a sub on ym standard headunit. worked good but when i took my sub and amp out - the stereo didn't know when the engine had turned off so it carried on playing all the time!

No need for a switch as it will only have power when the ignition is turned ON, may need a fuse in though.

hopefully the stereo wont keep playing lol [hopefully]
i thought there would be a way because there is a constant poer to the head unit so there has to be something [a wire] to tell it to turn on and off thanks for ya's help

You wire the remote up to the switchable live on the loom that turns the radio on/off with the ignition. Don't ask me which it is cos I don't know which!

An alternative is wiring it into the aerial stump, but apparently that is a pain to get to.
