there any meets comin up...would really like to meet a few peeps?
wot u drive then mitch?
MarkM said:Thats not bad!
Throttle bodies and cams would cost 4.5k for 40bhp
Steves car is stripped though so to be fair a scoobie should be stripped.MarkM said:Approx power to weight of the above cars.
350bhp scooby (1400kg ish) = 350 / 1.4 = 250bhp/ton
217bhp stripped mk1 (900kg)= 217 / 0.9 = 241bhp/ton
262bhp steves mk2 (1000kg)= 262 / 1 = 262bhp/ton
I know reliability grip off the line and all the other things comfort etc. etc. but you cant argue with those figures.
I dont know anything about cost and driveability etc of a 350bhp scooby but it isnt going to be cheap and it will be high boost so less driveable.
nice one mate! should be more power soon!and better tyres for the summer!MarkM said:Just ot flame the fire a bit more.

I think the new M3's are about 215bhp/ton so not really in the same league.

All of these are rough figures done off the top of my head so if they are wrong I apologise in advance.
thats f**king sweet! id love to see that in the flesh!you at fcs?ClioTurbo_1 said:lovely car mate! you cant beat this conversion!!
I have the 16v Mk1 with the low boost turbo conversion....217bhp in a stripped out car.
Anybody who thinks these aint fast are very wrong...mine easily out paces my mates 300bhp pulsar GTI-R (from a rolling start of course)
Here's a pic of mine....
bridgwater mate.i saw you at weston and dan the man was there.RuFF21 said:Where about in Somerset you from?
Im near Cheddar
i never knew there was no difference in our parts! im gonna book in for a remap the+turn up boost!!!!!!!! i was thinking 280bhp up frm 260 also thinking about an oil cooler and mybe water injection.il pop over when its done m1tch! another vid?steveM1TCH said:^^^
well bb's 172 turbo is running 324bhp iirc with no difference in parts. its all down to mapping and boost. but then thats unuseable power on a front wheel drive so there you go...
450bhp! front wheel drive?dont think so bud!anyway the whole point was to keep it renault! bod and engine.edde said:Steves car is stripped though so to be fair a scoobie should be stripped.
I'd feel a lot safer with a 350hp scoobie than a 250hp 172 reliability and driveabilty wise.
I'd feel a lot better with a whole new engine you cna get a 1.8 vag engine all the bits for £6k incluidn stand alone ECU etc then you've got to get it fitted but still £2k should be reasonable then thats 280hp reliabily plus a 6 speed box designed for massive torque LSD is easy to get hold of and 350p is possible before it need series internal work. 450hp is possible with the right bits.
na i think it needs a little more grunt in mid range!M1TCH said:Andy said there is lots more power available but maybe at a cost of reliabilty so dont think its really worth it mate.... yours is plenty fast enough!!
