SKF tensioner kit and 5PK belt comes in at £120. Better thank paying £200 for the 'genuine' plus extra belt, that seems to be SKF anyway. (PMS sell it at least)

I may live in the south but maybe I was northerner in another life I love me a bargain.

And this just arrived:

2.5 turns lock to lock DCI rack. Not completely sold on EPAS but had to snap this up while I could. If I was to go EPAS I wouldn't use a controller but wire it into the RPM/speed signals. My daily is a 1.2 and I really don't mind the EPAS feel (although HPAS does feel better).

INB4 throw it all in the bin; it's a road car and I like comfort. And part of that comfort is not having HPAS problems - plus tidy up the bay.

f**k off the PAS pump and the tensioner and do this:

It's a good plan, maybe one day it will happen. I chuck anything I take off in a box so can always be reverted.

Dci rack is good if going epas. I hated the dead spot in the centre the torsion bar gives on looped hpas rack, and bonus of solid mounts on the dci rack instead of the oem bushes.

Wiring in the epas ecu to see speed and rpm is absolutely the way forward👌

I was going to explore an electro hydraulic pump for the hpas, a bit like mk2 cup raced setup but no room on my trophy sadly. Could potentially be good, or expensive/crap.

@Brigsy If EPAS doesn't feel right then electro hydraulic was next on the list. Just like EPAS, lots say its perfect and others need higher output alternators etc to keep up with its demand... And the units themselves are huge aren't they - makes sense in a stripped track car but for road not so much -and your T.Trophy is another level beyond that.

All seems like a bit of a crap shoot, is it any worse then chucking new PAS pumps on 🤷‍♂️ Appreciate the input, what I have read about the dead spot is what put me off looped rack as an option.

Agreed pros and cons to everything, i could imagine chasing hpas leaks and the pipework on mine was far too close to the exhaust for my liking.

Epas wired correctly will see you right for road use, and no worries with any future leaks.
