It's a special invisible / imaginary one. What car is it again?

It's not too far off mate Honestly! Is it done yet ?
Progress looks good Andy
Hahaha, thanks for taking the time to read through mate. I can't help but feel that I've been more idiotic than inspirational... but hindsight is a wonderful thing! Hopefully it won't be too much longer now until Trophy #165 is ready to come out to play. Steve's done a great job on the engine and it should be quite a tasty little build once everything is pulled together and finished. Cheers!Wow, what an epic build thread! I've read this from start to finish (well all of your updates) and to be fair, you've been truly inspirational. A lot of people have thrown in the towel a long time ago and myself included. There's nothing worse than the feeling of spending money good after bad. Most of us have been there at one time or another. There's a lot to be said for leaving cars standard as that's how they've been designed and developed however that just not in our nature as enthusiasts. It was a brave decision to change to a totally different engine in a car that many wouldn't but i guess once the engine lunched itself the first time the trophy wasnt original any more! Can't wait to see the fruits of your labour! Nice to see Steveboyslim is still about, I had to lol when i read he was still building his RS200. That's been going on for about 12 years now!
Cheers mate. There are various bits and pieces going on down and around there so I've left it in the capable hands of the guys who know better than I do It can certainly get a bit tight and cosy down there! Can the DP be mounted without dropping the subframe? Looks very nice
Sorry mate! Please see it as a form of flattery...Can't believe you've gone for the 3" motorsport slash cut tail pipes, I was quite happy having the only Trophy out there with them......
Good to see some progress mate, had mine out the other day it's an absolute beast still, your gonna love it when it's done.
Aye - it's a shame it's going to be out of sight! Hmm, maybe the exhaust pipes should extend outwards and down along the sills, like an AC Cobra... burn the lower legs each time I get out of the car! That exhaust! Lovely!
Gets the Pattison seal of approval :laughing:April 2017 - Update #3
Another update and - yes - a few more exhaust pics. I'm happy to say that the exhaust is now all TIG'd up and finished! I'm absolutely chuffed with the work on this and how it's turned out. It's a 3" system all the way through and ends with the slash-cut style tail pipes.
A massive thanks to Dan at SJM for his time and handiwork - top, top job!
I'll be happy to get some miles out of it and I'll certainly be enjoying those miles with a grin across my face Fingers crossed mate...This car deserves to be truly epic ! !
Woohoo! That's all I wanted to hear - Pattison Approved™ - job doneGets the Pattison seal of approval
....... not long now Andy 🙈
lol worrying thing is we both had the wrong spelling too 🙈. Seriously is looking epic and I can't wait to hear that new exhaust:up:I'll be happy to get some miles out of it and I'll certainly be enjoying those miles with a grin across my face  Fingers crossed mate...
Woohoo! That's all I wanted to hear - Pattison Approved™ - job done
I hope so mate! This car deserves to be truly epic ! !
Sadly we might have to wait a little longer as things have been at a standstill for a whileSeriously is looking epic and I can't wait to hear that new exhaust:up:
What's outstanding Andy?
What's outstanding Andy?
There are a few bits and pieces outstanding chaps. The engine is all built and ready to go in - as is the gearbox - but it's the work around it that also needs to be done. Off the top of my head: engine to go in along with full hardpipe kit, turbo, downpipe, intercooler, fitment of new exhaust, installation of revised fuel system and swirl pot (and pump, regulators, etc), fitting of new gearbox, installation of new uprated clutch, new / custom loom with firewall block adapter for easy (dis)connection if the engine has to go in/out, installation of digital dash and programming for custom sensor setup (I have extra sensors in the engine for monitoring cylinder temps and similar), installation and setup of trick ECU, setup for boost by gear, flatfoot shifting, setup installation of new big brake kit, EPAS conversion, installation of new Mark Fish Trophy springs, refurb of Sachs dampers, powdercoating of hard pipes, new tyres, safe mapping for running in, running in, final maps, etc. There are all other little things like new pads and discs, suspension refresh, new steering wheel... to be honest, I can't even remember myself at the moment. My question too.
Is it something a few of us could smash the f**k out of over 2/3 days or is it a huge amount of specialist fab work?
It's still at the workshop mate - not seen the old girl in quite some time!Is the car somewhere now, or at home etc?
Yep - it spent over 1.5 years at BTM and, unfortunately, the engine and gearbox failed. Hence I only got minimal usage from that build and I ended up back at square one. This build rose from the ashes of that build, albeit with a slightly different direction. I've had the car for only a handful of months over the last 5 years and probably only put 1500 miles on it if that.Wow, feel for you, I remember seeing this at BTM when I had my black 182 5 years ago I think? Whats holding it up? Been some mega builds happen in a quarter of the time of this one!
Yeah - that's the frustrating thing mate. It promises to be a quite tidy little build with a lot of the work having been done now. It just needs the final push to put everything back together and to get it over the finishing line. I'm just not in a position to make that happen and have to continue to rely on folks who, undoubtedly as capable as they are, can't find the time to give it that final push.Every time I see an update it annoys me and it's not even my car lol. Understanding isn't the word.
Too late, you've said it! :tongueout:Dare I say hope you sort it soon?!?.
You come accross on here as a really nice guy, maybe that's the issue lol
No mate - people aren't keen to take it on given the fact that they weren't involved in the work that's already taken place. On a build of this level they prefer to be involved from the start it would seem (which makes sense). Reputable RenaultSport specialists, whilst still out there, are getting thin on the ground. At least those I trust! Hence they tend to have busy schedules as well... catch-22! For the record I've got complete faith in Mike (certainly no issues there) but there are only so many hours in the day (and I'm running out of patience after such a drawn out period of time). Not viable to get engine dynamics to finish it off for you?
isnt sjm doing it anymore?Too late, you've said it! :tongueout:
Thanks for the kind words mate. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe I need to be a bit of a tw*t and start shouting more!

No mate - he's not got the time unfortunately.isnt sjm doing it anymore?
shame that i really hope this gets finished this year as the amount of dead money in it must be silly now. You need to get somthing back from this soonNo mate - he's not got the time unfortunately.

No disrespect to any parties involved as I know they're nice people, but this is why I never trust mates rates lol. Life can get in the way sometimes, but one just needs to be upfront about it.I feel sorry for you mate, what an absolute joke.
30 months buddy...I just don't get it, that's still quite some to do list for something that's been ongoing for 18months. I'd be f**king raging.
Yeah - the exhaust looks the nuts. If it sounds half as good as it looks... :hearteyes:Bit late for that now!
That exhaust is epic btw
Too nice or a mug?You must be far to nice!
I just hope that I am able to gel with the car when it does come home. I expect I will... otherwise it wold have been an expensive mistake in both wasted time and money.I feel sorry for you mate, what an absolute joke.
