Re: The life of... SharkyUK's Trophy [& Fred's V6]

Holy s**t its back! It looks great and im sure you/fred are pleased with it, interesting to see the results after mapping :)

Mine never got hot with the polo rad fitted and pacet fan, not even in standing traffic. I need to refit that set up to my current car when I find some motivation.

Considered giving pro-alloy a shout for a rad? their work is pretty amazing

Re: The life of... SharkyUK's Trophy [& Fred's V6]

Pro Alloy are doing a rad for Porkie soon and had lots of people interested so i’ll probably set up a group buy on them once I find out costs etc :) Their work is epic!

Yes, that sounds good to me.

Was just thinking about that when dmallet mentioned it.

Pro Alloy are a bit on the pricey side IMO, their stuff is good though, there's also Radtec, Allisport, Rs Fabrications, etc etc, group buy on 5 could be a plan!

Glad you can now drive it again Andy :)
Thanks mate. I can't wait until I can drive it in anger! :)

Great to see it all complete, been a long time but looks more than worth it. Very tidy and brilliant spec :) Enjoy Andy.
I will do, Keith. Hopefully I can catch you at some point at a meet or event. See what you think and maybe take it for a spin.

Looks great Andy. The bay looks immense.
Thank you kind sir. Fair play to Fred, he's tidied it up no end. It's nice not to have all the aircon stuff in there as well.

Looks f**kING awesome mate :) glad it's all done and finally at home with you.

Now for mapping. Hope if pulls some very good figures for you.

Proper Car.

@Kelv
Cheers fella. It's not quite at home yet though. :) It wasn't worth me taking it from Brum all the way back down to south Wales, only to have to take it up to Leeds. Plans are in place to get it transported up to RS Tuning about... ooh... anytime now really.

Guessing you can't get out on track at fcs if it's not mapped yet?
so close!
Sadly not mate. Mind you, I won't be at FCS this time around as I have a weekend at Oulton Park for the BTCC. I'll be there with my main man Rob Austin! LOL! Hopefully catch up with you soon. :)

Awesome news.
Can't wait to hear it!
I'll let you know when and you can pop in on your way past (or can meet you somewhere). You'll have to give it a go.

Good news enjoy it mate.
Will do chap, cheers.

As above, it's not quite back just yet... *nervous* Pleased with it? So far I am over the moon with it, even though it's got a bit left to do. As for Fred. Well. He's probably more than happy to see the back of it! But he's certainly done the business as far as I am concerned. As for Pro-Alloy...

Pro Alloy are doing a rad for Porkie soon and had lots of people interested so i’ll probably set up a group buy on them once I find out costs etc :) Their work is epic!

Yeah I mentioned it yesterday on Facebook and quite a few people interested :)

...this. I'm certainly interested. If a group buy can be arranged then even better. Obviously I don't want to spend more than I have to but I'm not skimping on parts having come this far.

Pro Alloy are a bit on the pricey side IMO, their stuff is good though, there's also Radtec, Allisport, Rs Fabrications, etc etc, group buy on 5 could be a plan!

Fair points. A few options there so I will have a look at pricing, etc.

In Fred's Vee I've done, ooh, a fair few miles... ;) I think it's somewhere in the high 50k's now. Maybe even touching 60k. :p I've done a lot. And enjoyed every single mile. But it has also been looked after as if it was my own. :)

Don't rub it in. The Type-R is not the same. :p That said, I could actually here the radio on the way into work this morning and was able to leave the house without waking up the neighbours! Thanks for letting me borrow it for so long. Epic, epic car and I will drive one again in the future.

Damn those Halfords V6 bodykits though... and the fact you are driving around in a "28 grand hairdressers car"... <- Best comment I had aimed at it whilst in my ownership!

That would be awesome, you can have a go in the 200 to see if you want to swap for it ;)

I'm hoping it will be done before then mate :) Any chance you can still pay for the oil cap and mail it to me? LOL! :p Good luck with yours on the 19th.

Haha! As much as I love your 200 I think I'll stick with the Trophy for a while. At least a couple of weeks until I decide to break it. That's the CS way, right? :)

Nice to see it complete, really looking forward to updates :)
Cheers Ash. :)

He did say that it will probably be some time before it gets washed again, Ali... And yes, I couldn't agree more. Incredibly addictive. It even brought the biggest smile to my 70-something year old father when I took him out for a spin in it. He doesn't smile very often LOL!

Somebody's not been reading the posts... :p I haven't got it back yet. There was no point in bringing it down to south Wales from Birmingham, just to take it back up north to Leeds. Fred has been driving it around making sure things are mechanically sound and it's on its way up to Leeds for running in and mapping. I won't have to do any mileage on it before mapping :) As for payment... nah, the money's ready!

Re: The life of... SharkyUK's Trophy [& Fred's V6]

glad your getting the car back soon but what on earth has happened for it to take a yr to be done.?
It's been longer than that, fella - about 16 months by the time it comes back :)

Why? It's a long story... I have detailed the ups and downs throughout this thread and - no disrespect - I don't want to go through it all again here! :) In a nutshell it's been due to lengthy delays on parts (in the order of months), faulty parts, poor work at previous specialists, unfortunate injuries, revised spec, more work being required than initially thought (due to poor state of engine which saw the whole thing binned; block and head), and a few other things.

They're all a bit pricey and/or slow. Boston Radiator Services are spot on. Well priced and a quick service, quality is bang on too.

Cheers for the link Fred. Would be great if a polo rad template could be sorted as I don't currently have a ruler long enough for taking measurements... LOL!

Its going to be perfect after its mapping, hopefully nothing bad will happen and delay you having it by even longer lol

If a guy in swift sport starts beeping at you and waving his arm like a loony then its probably just me, being weirdly excited to see this finally on the road!! haha

I'm finding it tough to drive to be honest... could be the fact that it's a good hundred or two miles away!

What V6? :p Nah, I've had my V6 fix for now and will most likely look to get one somewhere down the line. But for now, the Trophy is the focus and that's shaping up nicely.

Hahaha! Thanks for taking the time to read through the thread and I'm glad it made your commute a little easier through the week! Yep, there has certainly been one or two hiccups along the way and I'm hoping those are now long, distant memories (and they will stay that way). As for the head/block... I think they may have gone to the scrappies in the sky as they are no longer of use; especially the head. It had already been skimmed before when I'd taken it to another specialist for repair work so there's not much could have been done with it. If there are any pics I'll try and get them posted but I think it might be too late...

MOT you say? I don't think I've ever looked so forward to getting the car MOT'd ;) I guess I'd better get the tax sorted as well come to think of it  Splendid!
