New middleware from gesture recognition software firm SoftKinetic is said to "enhance" the full-body motion tracking capabilities of the PS4's PlayStation Camera, allowing it to "compete directly with Kinect".
The 'iisu' development package is capable of tracking the movements of four players at once, and is the tech powering Ubisoft's dance game, Just Dance 2014, on PS4

^ I know one of the lead graphics coders on Order 1886 - a very talented guy and he has done a few talks recently about the technology going into the game. Some very clever lighting and surface realisation techniques being used on this and the results are very impressive. He recently talked at SIGGRAPH 2013 and went into further detail about some of the techniques. It could be quite a 'looker'.

Just ahead of the PlayStation 4 launch, Sony has put up the new PlayStation App for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play.Operating system requirements are 6.0 (and above) for iOS and 4.0, or greater, for Android users but it’s not currently available to UK residents although we’d expect that to change very soon.

The app promises to allow you to take your PlayStation experience with you, wherever you go, from your phone or tablet, providing features like ‘pushing’ games from the PlayStation Store to your PS4 system and checking on what your friends are playing, comparing trophies, and viewing your profile or recent activity.

There’s also the ability to Chat with your friends, receive notifications, game alerts, and invitations, and then use your mobile device as an on-screen keyboard for the console.

It will also allow gamers to make use of various second screen features built in to the games and access system guides, manuals, and the PlayStation.Blog.

I nearly said that the other day as well. It's an open review system, it's open to abuse and not really a trusted review.

You can see the reviews that have a verified purchase against them, I.e. Amazon has verified that the person reviewing actually has purchased the product.

In that case those are fine, but if I really liked, I could write PS4 is s**te buy an Xbox One, and put it as a one star, easily done. I'm not saying they're all fake, the majority seem legit (without looking at 76 pages), but it's also easily manipulated.

It's 4/5 Star overall anyway, not a bad score tbf.

Looking for a half decent set of surround sound headphones for the PS4, though details are thin on the ground right now - any recommendations?

Seems the TurtleBeach PX4s have problems with the chat / mute function - so also considering Triton Pro + or 720+.

Happy to spend up to £150.

No I didn't but I'm dubious about this ps3 only business. Logistically, why would you bring a game out only on a console that's at the end of its life. It'll be on ps4 as some point no doubt.

I still think it's odd that gta5 is ps3 only too.

as above , Metal Gear Solid 5 is in production ( multiplatform ) here is a vid of it apparently running on a PS4

Very simple , User base.... PS3 has a user base of 70million + where as the PS4 will probably be around the 5 million figure when released ( worldwide ). It doesn't bother me that it is coming out on PS3 and am really looking forward to the release on the 6th Dec. Gran Turismo 7 is very likely already in development and will be release on the PS4 in maybe 2 years or so...

E-mailed customer support and they said they would have to cancel my order to change the delivery details. WTF? There is a week to go and they can't change the delivery address? Yep. Couldn't do that with my Xbox One. Luckily, my card had changed since I placed the order so they had to reprocess it and I was able to change delivery address then.

Quite a few on AVF upgrading their HDDs to larger HDDs or SSDs for even quicker boot times - AND it won't void your warranty

Cool man although what I really mean is for viewing video files I download and chuck on a USB stick and watch on my PS3. I wish I could stream it from my computer but it seems to lag so badly, maybe this'll improve with the PS4.

I honestly have no issues streaming high bitrate files such as full 1080p videos, lossless music etc?

Also keep an eye out on the PLAY store or Apps store for the playstation app which should be released soon (been delayed) - enables you to log in to your profile, message friends, accept and send friends requests, game downloads etc too :

It's probably my s**t network to be fair, I'm only on an 8Mb/s line, which I rarely get. I can't even copy over Wi-Fi it always gives up the ghost before the end! But strangely enough I can usually stream 4oD etc. fine...

Apparently the knackered consoles that were sprouting up in the UK were built by Chinese company foxconn for Sony which were dispatched in the US,

but ive heard although not sure how accurate this is but European consoles are manufactured in Japan, so with a bit of luck not as many issues will occur on release day in the UK.
