Lol, dash cut out is very ghetto.

Cage is decent though. Bet it's rigid as fcuk.

love the cage, lovin the seats even more tho, ow much they set u back?

Seats are around £675 +VAT each. but i pulled a few strings and paid far less than that!

As for the dash, i asked Mark just to cut it quick and get it in. There was no point paying him labour for something i can do. So it will be tidied, and flocked, and will look pimp!

Rip the dash out and make a custom one.

Cage looks like a good job. Get it sprayed in a lary colour they always look best that way!

I fear that you will be spending all this money getting the car build, only to not win the events.

Last years champions a reasonably fast car no where near the fastest however they got 2 racing drivers to drive and of course they wiped the floor!

its the same sort of money i would spend on building the car to a track spec anyways.

ok due to Time Attack it might of happen quicker than normal, but i still would of done it this way.

As for winning, whilst i am gonna do my best at doing so, if i dont, then i dont. Its not like this is a tens of thousands of pounds worth of build, with people's lively hood depending on it.

Having said that, with what is being done to the car, it will be a very competitve machine, so i guess my driving skills are only gonan be the chink in the armour.

we will have to wait and see! :D

Fantastic job there, looks solid!

I will make sure I get my arse up to a Time Attack event this year and get some pics. You hoping to do every event? Looking at the list it will have to be Brands Hatch for me, that's the only circuit remotely "near", unless they do the demo at Castle Combe again of course.

yeah, gonna do them all.

even knockhill, thats over 9 hours drive away!! lol

may be up for road tripping with you chris...

Sounds good, I managed 22 events this year not including Cliosport stuff, aiming for 30 this year so I will be no doubt going all over the place. Give us a shout when the MMX Championship comes down to Asham Woods again as well, really really enjoyed that last year.

Yeh i understand it will certainly be a beats when its complete.
Il try pop along to some rounds, lend a hand and all that!

If you do want a days instruction at each circuit beforehand and shown the lines or even half a day i can put you in touch with a few people that wont rob you!

:)

as already said it looks good and will be a beast!

While i think the dash could be neater, i understand how its been done, if mark had spent ages cuting it out perfectly the bill would be huge, how many race teams PC polish there race cars and worry about looks? its there to save ur life not look pretty

Nice to see someone on here has proper harness bars! :)
Although I don't think it does the car might need to be checked for safety and otherwise it would fail. Other caged cars on here arn't checked for proper race compliance.

For those who don't know here how a harness should be

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=224554

Have a look at page 5 on the time attack rules. There is a diagram of an acceptable up to 45deg angle on the belts. I will have to look at how this compares to the angle mounted into the rear seat belt mounts.

spoken to the scritneers, harness bars are fine. Harnesses will run pretty much level to them once seat is mounted.

My cage is going in the bmw this week, hopefully I'm having bars welded onto the cross to take the harnesses.

ok, time for a bit of an update....

As you can see cage needed a spot of paint. I was going to get this done professionally, but seeing as i work for a car paint supplier i thought i would give it a go myself.

ok, first thing first was to get the sound deadening out. Heat gun and scraper in hand, i attacked it...

roof panels were a b**ch!

IMG_2111-vi.jpg

So once i had got out everything that i wanted, it was a case of removing the left over glue

IMG_2120-vi.jpg

IMG_2123-vi.jpg

IMG_2124-vi.jpg

So once that was all done it was time to mask the car ready for some paint, a pain staking task!

IMG_2125-vi.jpg

IMG_2126-vi.jpg

After a hoover and degreaser it was on with a wash etch primer. This eats into the metal to give a solid base for the primers and topcoats to go onto.

IMG_2128-vi.jpg

IMG_2129-vi.jpg

Once that was all on and dried, a high build primer was next up.

IMG_2142-vi.jpg

IMG_2144-vi.jpg

IMG_2143-vi.jpg

Once that had a good 24 hours to dry, it was all ready for the colour! I went with white on the interior to keep it simple and plain, with the seats, harnesses and dash adding any colour or contrast.

fairly pleased with the outcome!

Dash is waiting to be cleaner up then sent to be flocked.

then next on the hit list is front bumper off, to fit remove these:

and fit these:

Actually the MSA Blue Book only states that they have to be fitted according to the Manufacturers specifications, although it does also have this FIA diagram.

So mounting the belts low would be acceptable for competition cars, not ideal certaintly but they wouldnt fail scrutineering

cheers guys!

yeah there were a few spots wehre paint was a bit thin, but got them sorted.

note to self.... get it sprayed outside the car next time and just touch in the welded area's!!

:D
