Very impressive stuff, love the way Renault go about there business - they still lead the way in the way in terms of producing road bred track cars.

Expensive it maybe, but its only the same tax that Porsche used to add to the old GT3 for there RS models.

This model whilst it has a lot of very nice parts on it, Ohlins & Akrapovic, still feels a bit less hardcore than the R26R, without its radio & with the perspex windows.

Not a fan of the stripes either, whilst the car would possibly loose some of its identity with them off, i'd probably have them removed if i was in the market for one.

Massive kodus to Renault for doing this again after the R26.R. I imagine by limiting to 30 they will be fairly depreciation proof as well (in relative Renault terms). Well played.

So that's a £7,500 premium for the 'R' over the Trophy.

£2,000 of that is, we know, the trick suspension.

So £5,500 get's you an upgraded titanium exhaust, Cup tyres, seats, bigger brakes, and a lithium-ion battery along with a lot of deletions due to weight saving.

Worth it?

The posh battery etc. are optional extras....

The residuals on this car, will be so much stronger than any A Class AMG, M135, Golf R, the limited run will make sure of that. Would for me, make it the wiser purchase.

However i genuinely can't believe that you are able to spec some of these modern hot hatches, and it comes close to £50k, madness.

I'm sure I read somewhere recently that all of these impressive times are really down to tyres rather than the car itself. All these manufacturers are doing now is having an aggressive track tyre as an option that is barely suitable for the road that takes huge gobs of time off their 'ring lap.

EDIT: http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=30172

e.g. Carrera GT drops 15-20s on modern rubber putting it in shouting distance of the 918.

Puts it in perspective a bit.

Hats off to them for doing it, a least their latest efforts are not a complete failure. I just hope this equates to some actual sales!

Pricing is steep but no one is going to buy on as a daily and when compared to similarly focused metal it doesn't sound so silly - considering what it's capable of.

Thats a better view, the last one had the a pillar obstructing :( either a way it looked quick love the sound of the exhaust from inside the cabin
Seen it on btg earlier but I'm saving the video for tonight when I'm busy.......lol! I must be honest the exhaust note has no appeal mate. Reminds me of the vxr. I don't know what it is, but all modern 4 cylinder turbo stuff sounds the same nowadays. Each to their own though.

Something to pass the time ;)

Yeah I see where your coming from in terms of exhaust note, I could imagine it becoming quite tiresome and it doesn't replace the rasp of a nice N/A haha

i don't reckon you'd be a million miles behind with the ast's lol

I find it hard to believe they never sold all the Uk R26r's. Myself and a few others witnessed the very last R26r being assembled in Dieppe a few years back. With out really taking much notice at the time, there was a middle aged chap following our group around with his young boy. When the Reno technicians showed us the last two cars and their associated production numbers being fitted with the rollcages and exhaust, he piped up and said the last one was his. All of us including the technicians looked at each other and I suppose thought "yeah, what ever". He then got the receipt and production details out of his pocket from the uk and duly proved it was. Everyone was surprised including the reno guys! Its just goes to prove that there are many folk out there that want something with a limited number regardless of make, model, spec or price. It will be piss easy to shift 30 of these imo.
