Snappy has finished my steering wheel trimming and its been paid for - hopefully I will have it by this weekend so I can fit it! The photos Snappy sent look spot on so I can't wait to get it. Photos will be up shortly.
This morning I took delivery of my favourite upgrade for any car I have ever owned. Snappy is well known on these forums for being the man to go to when you want your steering wheel re-trimmed and so I did just that. All the way through the process Snappy was fantastic with communication and even sent me a few update photos via SMS. I went for black leather with blue stitching and blue center marker and black thumb grips with black stitching. The quality of the work is second to none and I honestly can't recommend this guy enough, the improvement to the interior of the car is amazing and I personally see it as an investment. I would of paid twice the £120 cost of this and still been more than happy. I will let the photos do the rest of the talking (although I apologise for their poor quality) (the silver center marker you can see in one pic is my mates - he may post pics of his in the future).
remove your acoustic valve dude its next to your fuse box its sounds wayy better! its two bolts but the wheel has to come off. my friend did it to mine the day i bought it
Speedyrossco - the acoustic valve is attached to the end of one of the cold air feeds and is located in the passenger side arch liner. As far as I am aware it is there to reduce the induction noise on the standard set up.
Yea buddy!! Best money i've spent on any car i've owned that wheel....when I can arsed i'll get a few photos of mine up aswel! Not that a quick snap does them any justice haha!
It's not fitted perfectly, a tiny bit wonky here and there but for the time being it looks 100% better than the 1.2 splitter that was fitted when I bought it. Here is a cheeky snap:
Hi mate going to take the acoustic valve off
so I just unbolt it from the end of the large induction pipe found under the wheel liner
then I have to plug a smaller hose up , is that correct
thanks
Well I did it because I was removing the cold air feed all together so I can't comment on the noise difference it would make on the standard setup. I put a bolt in the end of it, I used a spare brake mounting bolt from my mountain bike.
Fitted the Turinis today and I am very happy with them! They are the ET35 version (not the Renault version) so they sit in the arches really well and in my opinion don't really need spacers. I haven't got the centre caps yet but they will go on next week.
Well next weekend it's the Bedford track day so I'm just waiting for that now and my next move will depend on how the car goes on track. I do have some solid top mounts but I'm undecided as to whether I should fit them or sell them on and spend the money elsewhere.
I had a brilliant day out on track and passengering with Rob G, the car was faultless all day long and handled superbly. It was my first go so the first few laps of the day were very slow but throughout the day my lines improved and my technique got better and better, by the end I was very happy with my improvements and felt my laps were pretty quick in comparison with my earlier attempts. That being said, I was being overtaken all day long by almost everything haha.
Here are the pics I bought from the MSV photography site, I think they got some great shots! I think I was the only guy on track with a magic tree still dangling!
Little update today in between sun and rain showers. Did an oil change with some Fuchs SuperSyn.
Off with the old cheap filter:
On with a genuine Renault item:
And whilst the injector guard was removed I saw this:
Car feels great to drive as ever and it is just a pleasure to own. I'm looking to refresh the fixings around the CAT soon and then look to get another track day booked.
Tiny updates as usual at the moment. New rear wiper, also fitted mist washer jets but I think my washer pump is knackered so I'll have to sort that soon. Next spare moment I get and it's not raining I'll be replacing the exhaust fittings!
Well, it's been a little while since at update, reason being that all I've done is drive it!
However, over the last week my exhaust centre section has started sagging and catching on bumps that it didn't previously, and I can hear a blow. So, as a result, I've booked into my local Longlife dealer for a consultation and plan to eventually (sooner rather than later) have the whole centre section replaced with a shiny new, non-silenced section.
In the meantime, a few pics taken since my last update:
Thanks dan
Do you mean 205/50/16 on the rear mate
Mine have 195/45/16 on my 182 cup alloys
I am going to put 205/45/16 on
Going for ad08's on the frt and abit cheaper on the rear as i think 205 will look better
