Maybe he's included every drop of petrol and coat of wax. We all know how that adds value to a car😉😂.

Head Shot Fired, Man Down (Mean Woman Down)

I have seen this all unfold from the facebook groups onto the forums and like its been said its not nice for both parts.
The problem you have with Renault sport tuners or RS Gurus is that if a plastic trim clip is burst on a wheel arch liner you are going to here about it and by the time its went from a facebook post or forum post its grown alot of arms and legs and it turns out that all the wheel bolts where loose and the hub fell into the boot next to the W12 engine from a Vw.

I think there is alot more too the story and the background to it. Bloke has made a post early on in this thread so im guessing he knows he has done wrong but unless all the facts are stated and fully backed up the truth well never be the truth.

My Renault specialist has been going 10 years and its a family run business and cause of that the going rate is alot more expensive than most but cheaper than a dealer. Im getting the impression that a mates mate who has a unit / lockup and a snap on tool box and does stuff at £15 an hour will do the job which is not always the best choice.

Easy to judge when its not happening to you. Different when it is then you find out how much of a "good" person you are.

If I have an issue with a business, I have no doubt at all that I wouldn't break into their property or assault anyone.

Like I said, perhaps I am weird. That or I'm obviously not living in a gangster movie like other people.

I think everyone has a limit before they lose their sh*t. Taking the appropriate measures isn't always the first thing on your mind. It's amazing how vengeful you can feel if you've been screwed over. I'm not saying I'd do the same thing, but then I'm not sure I wouldn't if I wasn't in the right frame of mind.

If the story is true and someone's absolute pride and joy has been butchered with no explanation, I feel in the owners shoes I'd have found it extremely hard not to put my extendable rachet straight between the guys eyeballs..... I know people make mistakes in life but my god, to not only take 18 months but also butcher the car beyond recognition is truly disgraceful, jeez I feel for the owner..... 😔

There has to be more to this,

There is absolutely no reason for such minor work to end up taking more than a few weeks to complete so either there was a fall out at the beginning of the work or the owner kept changing his mind on what he wanted doing or how much money to plough into the french money pit.

I would never start stripping things down until all money or parts are in place to complete the job as the last thing you want is a car in pieces taking up workshop space that could be earning money.

The other thing that makes me think there are other factors involved is if Bloke was snowed under with work as a reason for not getting jobs finished he wouldn't have been pissing about turbo'ing twingos etc .

It just doesn't add up

Just a bit more insight for all you guys saying two sides to every story etc.

I had work done by Carl on my car this time last year.
Belts were done, 197 cams fitted, timing adjusted and taken to EFI for a remap.
Mint work, top notch service and mega accommodating.
My only complaint is I'm still waiting for my invoice and a nut in the injector rail cover was cross threaded (being a king of cross threading and shearing bolts I see no major dramas in this), everything else has been mint.

Now the fun part, with Martin (Megane Owner and close friend) working overseas, I offered to step in to help coordinate the work, payment and collection of the car.

This started around March this year.
Spoke to Carl a few times on the phone and by text with an intention of collecting the car in June.
Explained I understand the pressures of running your own business and that this stuff happens, but communication and managing expectations is key.

Time started getting tighter at which point my calls and texts were ignored.
It then took for me to call from another phone number for Carl to answer.

Martin visited Carl over the summer (I can't remember exact dates) to chivvy along the work with a 'loose' completion date being agreed.
Insurances and Road Tax were renewed on the premise the work would be completed.
Martin even booked a closed circuit track day at the Nurburgring on promise the car would be complete.

Carl was also meant to be selling the Hybrid Turbo and Uprated Injectors already on the engine towards the £1400 for the new turbo.
This may have been what people seen when using the Megane as a 'donor' car, who knows.

Given the expenditure and delays, I feel Martin has been more than understanding and lenient.

Perhaps using a stihl saw as a key was overkill, but Carl had at least two weeks notice of the collection with regular updates from Martin inbetween.
I'm sure Carl even assured Martin that all parts would be present for collection...

I go back to what bash said. Can't understand with what needed to be done why it took so long for something straight forward.

Don’t understand why everyone’s still fighting blokes corner or saying there’s more to the story.

If there’s more to it then why’s he not defending himself across any social platform including CS.net?

If It was my business that was getting shot down in flames on the internet over false statements made by an unsatisfied customer I would be sharing my side of the events trying to clear my name.

He’s already admitted delays were mostly his fault, says the car was only outside during the day, does it not rain during the day over a period of 18months? So that explains Water damage to the engine.

Carl must know he’s done wrong hence the absence in replies.

Thankfully. Someone who has seen sense. There have been a few who have backed the OP but so many people fighting blokes corner when he has basically admitted fault. The mind boggles.

His silence does seem a bit strange, I guess he's just trying to avoid the lynch mob?

Anyway, never mind this crappy megane, I want to know what happened to the corvette he bought?

I merely added my input to share what I know.
There's failings by both parties, it should have never reached this point and should have been an amicable outcome away from social media.

I hate nothing more than a witch hunt or a bunch of keyboard warriors kicking off (part of the reason I've been absent from this forum for so long).

I have been reading this for the last 2 days and don't know either party.
However i have been in a similar position to the Megane owner, however left with bits of my Impreza and the reason i broke it.
I salvaged whatever parts i could after owning it for 14 years. I delivered a well known 575bhp magazine featured car, and reclaimed a rusty bodyshell, which too had been left outside in the rain, and some parts. Thousands of pounds worth of parts that were stolen too.

Its absolutely heartbreaking to go through this kind of thing.
I wish the vehicle owner well and hope that he can get his vehicle or its replacement to where he wants to be with it.

As someone said earlier, the amount of this crap that goes on, its a wonder any of us would ever modify a car in the first place.

People may be defending him since hes helped them at some point. So now hes done something wrong everyones suppose to become his enemy? If your friend did something wrong youd probably defend them or at least help them, unless youre snake of course.

Hes helped me on here a few times, doesnt mean that Im all for his case but I feel bad that his job could be affected and in terms of the two sides of the story, what if mental health was a part in this? Because quite frankly leaving cars for 18 months and not returning calls doesnt seem normal

By the sounds it was too complicated of a deal from the outset,

What if the turbo that was being removed didn't sell for 6 months ?
if that's what happened did work just stall at that point ?

The owner sounds like he has plenty of money if he works offshore and can blow £30k in a £4k car,
why not just say here's £xxx get it done before xx/xx date and if not find someone else to do it.

in my experience " fill in " jobs don't work, as you always loose your train of thought and method of working every time you break off the job and a 40 hour job takes the mechanic 80 hours +.

I'm not trying to defend Bloke, I don't know him, but this f**k up happens daily at garages all over the country but because they aren't dealing with car enthusiasts it never gets further than telling everyone in the pub and those garages survive, unfortunately for Bloke this is the modern world where one f**k up and bad judgment call goes mental on forums and then these threads appear.

I hope the cars owner gets his car sorted, Carl get's things sorted with regards to being a more savvy businessman as being good with tools is only 25% of the job nowadays.
