Where should the oil be?

  e92 + E46 M3 + Cup
Ever since i bought my clio i've not acctually found out what level the oil should be on the dip stick, i've owned motorbikes before i moved to cars & the dip sticks have max & min markings where as this one has just min ( pic below ) at the moment the oil level is just below the groved part, is that right? ( i cleanned the dipstick then took the picture )

Which grooved bit you on about?? The little one at the bottom or the box like bit??

  Fiesta ST
Isn't the groove at the far right the min mark and the little notch on the left further up the actual dipstick the max mark?

Lol I hate these easy question, I always get them wrong. :(

The bit right at the end ( far right ) says min on it & theres a little line there so not sure what the grooved bit is

Yeah 3.7litres is right, it must be a early mk2ph1? As they updated the d7f and the later ones had plastic yellow dipsticks with clear markers.

I'm guessing thats at the crank aswel :( oh well its what i'm stuck with until insurance becomes half decent for a bigger engine.. is it true the 1.2 16v puts out over 70bhp?
