Ade's Renaultsport 182 Project (+boost)

Glad you like it!

Its great George, I really don't know how you keep hold of 280BHP because it took some time before I could let mine off it's leash properly!

I've a couple of little things to sort out on it....

-One of the boost pipes is rubbing on the bonnet so its taken a little bit of the paint off. I'm gonna either try to lower it a touch or put something between pipe and bonnet to stop it doing so then touch it up.
-Got some of the 3D printed washer blanks coming so going to paint them and the bullets the same anthracite as the Turini centre cap's diamonds & the front and rear diamonds.
-Pioneer Renault fit speakers are in but need to tackle the tweeters and fit the steering wheel control leads
-Fit new fuse box cover (under bonnet one) as I broke mine being moody with it.

Tomorrow I'll give it a good wash, a quick detail and try my new DSLR out :)

I am gutted about that pipe!!! I had it all off Friday to double check every thing after the 300 miles we did, and then the pipe must be 5mm to high, never mind tho :)

See you soon boost bus!

Definitely in!

Thanks for all the kind comments!

Andy - don't worry about the pipe it's a very minor thing. I'm over the moon with the car the work is A*

Cheers again mate!

Well, the sun didn't want to play ball, and the car is well overdue a full detail (which will happen soon). However here is how the car now looks:

was saying to ade earlier we will sort a cleaning day out and go on a run out! :)

Looks immaculate mate 

Thanks!

Looks so so nice.

Thank you.
So, how are you finding it after a few days at the helm?

I'm adjusting to the power delivery now, still finding first gear a bit of a 'mare over 4,000RPM but generally take it easy in first to look after the gearbox. Between myself, Andy's fantastic customer service, and Scoff's mapping knowledge, we've identified a slight niggle with the throttle position signal on it which can make for some jumpy/rough running charateristics occasionally. Scoff can map this out easily so I'm currently organsing with him when it suits us both to have these issues mapped out. I had to do some data logging for this from the Adaptronic and it was really cool seeing the engine parameters readout and the TPS/fuel map moving around!

The clutch feels OEM - glad I went for the organic, very impressed. The car just feels like standard until it's on boost. The car is getting a lot of attention as it flutters around, I wasn't paying much attention until a friend I took out in it told me people were double-taking!

I never get bored of the spool, the chatter or the power. And receieving many great comments about both the car's acceleration/speed and the engine bay is a testiment to Andy's work.

So today I woke hopeful, and praying.

Started the car up after work on Tuesday and it was very rough. 2 cylinders rough. Called Andy and did some initial checks but to no avail. I decided I'd nurse the car home and get the laptop on the Adaptronic to help Andy diagnose what was up. 5 minutes down the road it decided it didn't even want to run on 2 cylinders.

Andy sent me out a new coil pack, leads and plugs via Special Delivery which arrived today. If these didn't sort it I'd be without a car until Andy could get to me.

Fitted them earlier :

And it fired right up!

Had a few more bits to do so after the test drive to the body shop I collected my washer blanks (3D printed group buy ones from off here):

Had to sort my brakes as they were sticking in the caliper so regreased the sliders and filed a bit more off the pads.

I've just been out for a little country lane and A road rip and the car has been struggling with the coil pack for sometime it appears! It's taking off much better on boost now and the misfire as the turbo is spooling has gone!

Andy was very helpful and informative yet again, really impressed with the after sales service from him! Thanks again Andyrg

Your welcome mate, first time we've had a faulty coil pack at £70 there not exacrly cheap!

I'll send it back to the dealer next week.

Silly electronic crap.

Thanks for the kind words. :)

Didn't know you had a problem but glad you got it all sorted mate, fair play to Andy for getting you back on the road promptly.

I'm still jealous as my cars off the road again really pissing me off.

Gearbox was refurbished. Came back leaking, took it back was re sealed. Leaked far worse and whined in 5th. Took it back and it's been away for two weeks and needs a new 5th and end seal still not been remapped either yet. Just the longest process of my life.

I didn't want to post it up as I was quite gutted to be fair. Also I have witnessed that some folk on here seem to have some kind of vendetta against him and would jump in slagging his work off, "You've only had it back a fortnight its not very reliable is it? etc etc etc". I had an idea the coil pack was the issue, and trusted Andy's knowledge in diagnosing it as so. I wanted to give him the chance to prove he is not as some people think and I think he has proven this quite well with the after sales support he has given me with my car since I collected it from him!

What's up with your motor matey? Hopefully nothing too serious?

I know what you mean mate, coil pack is out of everyone's hands too, Andy has supported you well and got you sorted can't fault him for his service. And as above mate gearbox issues. And still waiting for work to be done and mapped. Been over 3 months now, surprised I'm not more angry.

Hope it's all sorted sharpish and you get the boost bus back soon! Did you look into the Vibratechnics? Mine are surprisingly not very harsh! Or I'm just adjusting to them.

Thank you mate, haven't had the boost yet but the noise was nice ha. Yeh I bought them, still waiting for them to be fitted but hope the will stop the knocking, if not I'd have to get a custom pipe like George as it would drive me insane. Haha you may have adjusted but I had read they aren't much worse than standard in terms of vibrations.

Even with uprated mounts mine knocked on the subframe, a GT2860 and engine dynamics down pipe just didn't work for me!

That's because your as daft as Evo and need TONNSS of boost! I was loosing traction in 2nd above 4,000RPM earlier (in the dry, 19oC).... I still don't know how you rein it in with the power/torque your running! Maybe I need to keep loosing traction so I can upgrade my rubber sooner!

Really brings the Clio to life though, they aren't a slouch N/A but boost just gives them the scary/giggle factor! And the noise gets so much attention!

Don't say that George!! I've spent enough, hope it's different for me with the GT25.

Lol I'd only be running 1 bar I expect. Not too much I upgraded to Ad08's just not seen how much grip they provide yet. Finding it hard to get excited about the whole boost bit atm, just glad there's plenty of you happy with your cars.

Won't be long until you destroy your steering wheel thumb grips through having to fight the torque steer so hard, as your surroundings blur and your car is taking off like a rocket!

Chin up mate, good things come to those who wait!

Haha well you didn't mention anything about trees so that's good. Have no grips to destroy so that's another plus.

Thanks buddy , you keep enjoying that shiny motor of yours and try and get a sound video
