Stealthy clio is no more.. Head on crash :(

  "Navy" N17 TWO
Just heard about this in the other thread Rob :(

So glad both of you came out ok, all be it some injuries but as you say could have been a much different outcome, which I dred to think about.

Things like this actualy makes us sit and think about how safe the roads are, and how we literally do not know what is around the corner :dapprove:

As for the tw*t in the car that hit you - well I think we all feel the same there!

Obviously the guy in the other car should roll over and die, harsh I know but he really did not give a s**t about anyone else on the dual carriage when he decided to drive the wrong way down it.

I hope you and the missis get a full recovery, you might be able to recover some mods from the car unless its totally shafted.

I'm guessing this works out as being hit by an uninsured driver too? And given he's probably going to prison for a while you won't be able to claim anything there??

Sorry to hear that Rob. Glad you're both in reasonably good health. Speedy recovery to you and your missus!

If it was a hire car, surely the hire company insured the driver?

Crumbs of the chief!

Must be a horrible thing to go through. Speedy recovery matey!

And just to try and brighten the mood pics of the missus? ;-)

I've no doubt the replacement car will be having a cage fitted?!

Bloody Hell! Glad your both alive. Broke my collarbone identical to yours (Playing football) They just left mine to heal on its own rather than surgery, however I have a unattractive lump now. Recovery wast too bad about 6-8 weeks till I was comfortable lifting things IIRC (Was 3 years ago)

Wish you both a speedy recovery

Sorry I haven't replied sooner

thank you all so much for the kind words and the hate towards that idiot that almost killed us..!!! Really means a lot to both of us!

Police have it on film so he's banged to rights hopefully..I don't know the full story tbh hopefully he is all insured through the hire company! Gonna ring up tomorrow and also ring the police federation and see what they suggest

Both doctors and a consultant I've spoken to have suggested they are jus gonna strap it up instead of slicing me up THANK GOD but yeah il have a lump now I just hope it won't make it weak as I have a fairly active career..!

Might have to put the gym membership on hold for a while though!!!

For the fella who said pics of missus for some added value bant ...

Fcuking Hell!

Thank fcuk that you had a cage and proper seats + harnesses, as above why should insurance companies charge you money to make your car safer ffs.

Hope you get paid in full by the prickbag, plus some.

I think this is the issue, stolen car is not insured?

Or is it covered by the hire companies "theft" part of their insurance?

as long as the theif has been identified then the insurance covering the car will pay out under their rta obligation. if driver not known ie got away then will be a claim to the mib under the untraced drivers agreement.

nice avulsion fracture there! clavicle is the most painful bone to break as there are a lot of muscle forces and stresses and it is hard to keep the shoulder immobile. few weeks and you'll be reet :) fracture sites are also more dense making them stronger than the rest of the bone. your physio should also give you a couple of exercises to do as well, just so your shoulder doesn't become stiff.

hope the tw@ gets hammered, you get a good payout, and who said mods are bad? lol glad your both relatively ok

if there's no way of claiming back for the car you can at least claim for injuries through the M.I.B as my mate done this after a hit and run, sorry to hear of this though and atleast you's got out alive

On the bright side, at least your girlfriend is fit. :approve:

and tea through a straw?! I bet that hurt more than the broken shoulder lol

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and that everything legal wise goes well :)

Good to see you both still in high spirits though :)

Gowns aren't a good look for anyone lol!

Yeah no point in being miserable.. And as typical as it sounds It takes something big like this to make you realise how you take every day for granted.. !

Mmmmmm agreed..! The gowns are gash.. And to think I traded my superdry t shirt for it courtesy of the NHS' scissor collection!!

Wow. Unlucky... at least you're both relatively OK ! I'd imagine you're going to be sore for a few days but it should pass.

Just take it easy :approve:

Without wishing to cause offence ..

The car didn't roll and the cage is only in the rear .. what would you have expected to happen with OEM setup ? I'd bet my dinner that if the car was standard and in an exact repeat situation it'd have performed exactly the same.

Stopping very quickly is what hurts. Having zero slack in the system is only an advantage in a rolling situation. Most people don't have harnesses done up properly anyway !

I do not however wish that scenario on anyone !!

Tea through a straw however, sounds brilliant ! Are we talking a cuppa or dinner though ?

Wow.
I've never seen much point in putting buckets into a road car but this is certainly one time where it was a good idea!

Get well soon.

I thought the car had a full cage, my bad. A full cage would protect the passengers to an extent in frontal impacts as well as rollovers, side impacts e.t.c. as it helps maintain the integrity of the passenger cell.

Even if a 5 point is done up badly, it'll still spread the loading over the entire body better, reducing the chance of broken bones e.t.c.

Anyway, let's not clog up the thread with off topic discussion.

Sorry to hear Rob.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regarding this insurance of the kn0b this can be quite technical. You will be able to claim compensation for both the damage to your vehicle and any injuries sustained, but who from remains a question.

An earlier post said they have an RTA liability, but if they are clever enough they can reduce to Article 75 insurer due to the use of the vehicle at the time.

As stated though this does not effect your claim for compensation. If you need any advice or information feel free to contact me.

Again best wishes with your recovery!
