The VW Audi Skoda Seat Thread

RS3 went for its yearly service today, got 75k on the clock and needed everything doing 🤮

Service itself was covered by service plan (oil and inspection service would’ve been £465 alone!).

Then had plugs, brake fluid, haldex and DSG changed. A few pence short of £600 lighter walking out the dealership.

Just need 2 front tyres in the next month or so, current ones been on almost 2 years I think which isn’t bad going.

My fully discounted oil and filter change alone is £350. I love mine, but I don’t think it’s worth the cost, but I’m already balls deep now. They did point out it takes apparently 10 litres of oil at £23 a litre, which did make me feel a little better.

Went to start the engine, and bam - an array of warnings: drive system, stop-start, brake fault, you name it. Phoned up Audi, who booked me in for diagnostics… in two weeks (cheers for that!). They did say it was safe to drive since the warnings were amber, not red.

Tried to drive it, and, of course, it’s in limp mode. Called them back, and they sent recovery to take a look (thankfully, I’ve got the extended warranty - it’s been an absolute lifesaver).

The recovery guy quickly narrowed it down to a failed pressure sensor. Turns out, he also found a couple of cables on the wiring loom that had been nibbled by something small and furry. He didn’t think the nibbling was linked to the fault since the cables weren’t completely chewed through, but still… not what you want to hear!

Anyway, the car’s been dropped off at Audi, and they’ll be looking at it in the next day or so. Enterprise sorted me out with an A5 hire car within an hour - can’t fault the service so far.

I’m just really hoping the issue is just the sensor and not caused by more damage that wasn’t spotted. All the errors seem to point towards that one sensor, but after reading horror stories about wiring looms, I’m crossing my fingers it’s a simple replacement covered under warranty. Really don’t fancy forking out silly money for new looms!

I’m looking at new seats for mine - how easy is it to fit Recaro Wingbacks from the wider VAG range. There are quite a few competitively priced sets from S3 etc. Does anyone have any experience? Is it as easy as getting some universal frames?

Picked up some extremely cheap Cupra R bumper grilles this weekend. Just need to fix a broken clip and I’ll get them thrown on.

My most recent purchase as a commuter/dog car
2009 A4 tdi 170 S Line
Face-lift front and 19" alloys
Heavier steering than I'm used to.
Drives quite nice otherwise.

Had the Golf for a few years now.
Great fun track car. Remapped GT Tdi140. Fully stripped out, rear cage, seats, harnesses, coilovers, bios pedal box etc. Not the fastest, but handles really well as it was setup by Tuned before it shut down.
Needs new front wings as they are held together with vinyl 🤣
Cheap to run on trackdays

Got the Yeti back today. New clutch and Slave Cylinder along with 2 flushes of brake fluid. The DMF looked ok too so I took the gamble and kept it on, it's on 88k.

Car feels great to drive and the clutch feels so much better than before, I suspect the slave was on its way out for a while.

I've had to order a new drivers wing mirror glass as the old one has dropped off, looks like the previous owner had glued on a mirror plate and it's failed over time
