Re: RR results for 1*2s
166.9 bhp atw @ 6500rpm at GMC Motorsport Newton Stewart Scotland.
Minor head work - Piper cams - pmurray re-map - heat wrapped 182 manifold - mix and match zorst comprising of Pro speed back box, Magnex centre section and Janspeed modded de-cat, AWT matched inlet...
Sound is no where near as nice as my old Viper. I got a roar off the viper, the Maxogen is quiet
Gains are roughly the same too although i had a really good cold air feed set up on the Viper and had both IK's mapped after fitting unlike a lot of folk who fit Vipers.
The quality of the...
Think your living in dream land if you think you can build a car capable on paper of a 12 second quarter and that you can just jump straight in it and actually run a 12 second quarter all day long till the cows come home.
You'll lose power with anything if you dont get it set up right with a decent cold feed and appropriate mapping.
I came off the back of a Viper to a Maxogen and there's bugger all difference in performance, well, any that i noticed and the car was set up with each kit!
Maxogen quality...
Complelty disagree with the Viper being s**t quote. Absolutely no noticeable difference in performance what so ever over that of the best IK, a Maxogen.
As for the topic, your never gonna get any worth while gains on a 1.2 so if its the noise your after just get a open ended K&N IK or something.
Sure they only used to be high £200's to low 300 quid for a map from them when i was doing research about a year back?
A jump to 500 quid seems ludicrous.
Pmurray did a sterling job on mine for a decent price so gets my vote :)
Its been ok the 4k+ ive clocked up on the new belt plus its only on initial starting up.
Roads up here are like a river just now with all this rain so not sure if this will have anything to do with it
Yeah sounds like it but its a sharp blast of a screech and only lasts till the cars sparked up.
The belts only done about 4k or so.
This wont be a pulley thats wearing out will it? Cant understand why all of a sudden its making a noise.
Crap weather at the mo so could this be a...
Cars developed a very loud screeching noise from the drivers side of the engine from the duration of the ignition being turned.
its fine when its idling and up and running, its just when the cars firing up it makes a loud screech.
Anyone any ideas as to what it is??
thanx
We did mine by cutting off the long lengh section of pipe from the Janspeed decat, using the flange from the unneeded lengh and welding it back on to the decat. Slotted it nicely between the zorst and the 182 mani
You'd get a high percentage of your money back if you come to sell a Maxogen so the added premium is all pretty much balanced out over the piece.
The quality of the kit and the way it fits is streets ahead of anything else on the market imo
GMC will do it for you as they seem to like a challenge.
My mate had his Type R supercharged from them and its got a proven 300bhp+ at the wheels. (watch out for a mag feature sometime next year)
The down side is it cost rather a lot
You'd be daft to make your car a 172 by dropping a engine in etc
Its not like 172's are expensive to buy plus you'd have the extra insurance, hassle, time off the road etc etc
By the time youve sold your car and added the money together what it would cost you for doing the conversion...
Here's a guide to the cheap way of getting shot of the light.
1 - take dash top of and instrument panel out
2 - Take the rev counter needle off or very gently pull apart till it pops off at the engine light end (below picture shows the LED responsible)
3 - turn over and stick tape...
Remember that price edde quoted is only for the manifold alone and thats if your lucky enough to find one !! Their rare as hens teeth.
You'll have garage labour plus the cost of the welding on the link pipe etc so all in from a normal garage including the cost of the manifold you'd be...
Yeah, waist of time and money doing the engine.
Ive spent **** loads modding the engine on mine and yes its quick but for the money i could have had well above 300bhp on any turbo car.
As whats been said, lighten it up and do suspension mods
Save yourself s**t loads and get the 15's back on. Your making your gearing even worse for what your wanting by having 17's on!!
Its like going on a diet then eating out every night at a cake shop
Yes you do.
Experts in the Reno game all drop the subframe or pop out the engine to fit one plus when me and my mate did mine we looked at evey possible option and there wasnt a chance it was going in without removing the sub at the very least.
Tough one without seeing it m8. One off things like this are all trial and error. It wouldnt fit with mine, certainly without a lot of messing, and that had a small link pipe
Im just opting for a shorter cat with mine unless my friendly MOT tester comes up trumps again haha
182 cat would not mate up between my 182 mani and Magnex system due to the cat being roughly 2 and a bit inch too long. Would have meant hacking into the cats mesh which isnt a good idea.
Im gonna use a shorter cat off another make of car come MOT time.
