Hi guys looking for a wee bit of assistance/advice on this as am running out of things to try to sort.
My door open warning light on the dashboard is always on. It sometimes flickers on/off when raining and going over bumps. I have narrowed it down to being the boot.
Whilst investigating last...
Ive had a bit of a problem with twitchy steering recently so jacked the front of the car up and found a bit of horizontal play in the wheel on the drivers side only. The track rod ends are fine so its either going to be inner track rod or steering rack. I'd assume as its on one side that it...
Hi guys, Am having a problem that I see from searching seems to be quite a common one on the 172. When at speed on fast bends the steering is very twitchy and the front end of the car doesn't seem very stable. Also at slow speeds the steering wheel sometimes needs wrestled to stay in the centre...
Hi guys,
Just looking for a wee bit of advise. A few weeks ago my offside rear wheel bearing started droning and gradually got worse until I changed both rear wheel bearings last week. The new bearings were pressed in correctly (using press on outside part of bearing so as not to damage) and...

Just a wee annoying one today. My gearstick started to get a bit squeeky when changing recently and the last few days it has gotten louder. Coming from just below the gaitor. Am I able to spray WD40 down there or is thre a particular type of grease I should use?
Cheers

Hi guys,
Have owned my Cup for just over a year now andhave spent quite a wee bit of money getting it totally mechanically sound. Looking to do a bit of modification to it now as I don't need to rely on the car as a day to day driver. I'm not bothered about doing things like air...
Hi guys,
My engine management light came on yesterday in my 172 Cup. I had been working under the offside wheelarch where the horns are as I had a wee bit of problem with my horn not sounding to good. When I started the car the Engine management light had came on and has stayed on. I don't...

Unfortunately wasn't in mine, was in my girlfriends Clio Extreme. One parked outside Sno!zone - looked as if it hadn't been moved in a few days, the other coming off the M8 at Braehead turn off, was lowered, had rear cage and a very wobbly exhaust cut into the back bumper.

Hi guys,
Just looking for a bit of clarity before I start taking things to bits. I am aware that the rear 172 Cup brakes are supposed to do very little and that the compensator valve is disconnected from the rear beam. However I had the car jacked up at the back with both rear wheels off the...

Having the problem that I believe many on here have had with my 172 Cup failing on low rear brake performance. I have taken them the VOSA note to them but still they aren't passing it. Anyone have any contact(s) at VOSA that I'd be best speaking to regarding thi sissue.
Cheers,

Hi guys, Getting a VVT Actuator fault when reading my car with RSTuner. Cleared fault but it returns after driving. I am just wondering if "VVT Actuator" is referring to the VVT Solenoid that is on the Cylinder Head? I have thought that the car isn't picking up as it should be particulary at 5k...
After having new aux belt sitting in my boot for a few months I finally got a few hours free to change it. And why did I need a few hours? Not at all took 20minutes and that included 5 minutes to find the tools. All you need are 10, 13 and 16mm spanners/sockets to loosen the tensioner and...
Scientifically proven!! :p
Was driving into work this morning and a 3 series beemer driver didn't give me enough space and proceeded to hit my wing mirror with his. Lets just say his wing mirror casing exploded in a shower of bits. My glass popped out and cracked and the surrounding case...
Hi guys,
Had a slight knocking from under the car which with th ehelpof the search function I worked out to be the manifold banging. So checked all engine mounts and they looked as if they were in good condition, rubber had not perished. So I loosened the drivers side top mount and "pulled"...
Well todays one week since I picked up my little 172Cup, Driven it everyday to and from work and the occasional stint of Xmas shopping.
Biggest thing I'm impressed by is the mpg, been averaging 35-40mpg (mainly DC) due to rush hour traffic and only having a few chances to put the pedal to the...
Hi guys, this is being a really long week, reason is I bought a Clio 172 Cup on Saturday, but because the car is 250 miles away I won't get it until next Saturday(8th). Oh well, I suppose it will be like Xmas coming early anyway. Can't wait!
