I owned a 172cup for 4 years and loved everything about it. Since then owned a few cars in between and current have an 02 ctr which I'm trading in for a clio 200ff soon.
I test drove a few ctr's when i had the cup and didn't think much to them - no mid range. I got the ctr as a temporary car...
From your dedication on running the club both me and Stef have really appreciated your hard work from organised holidays, parties etc and met some really nice people along the way. Including yourselves, obviously. :)
Thats a real shame to see K&W go as they work so hard to keep the club going along with the team but like Yozza says its upto everyone to make the effort and keep the forum a fun and friendly place to be.
Where is Captain Slarty now??
Was at Heathrow airport the other day picking up the misses and received a laser alert on my Origin B2. Noticed a police van further down the road driving slowly, luckly i was 10mph under the limit.
Thing is with laser is that you have no time to slow down once your alarm goes off as bascially...
Philip,
Have had them on since beginning of December and their doesnt seem to be much wear. I do hammer them all the time as they are so powerful. Youll be amazed how late u can brake in all weathers but the tyres will make a difference too.
Speak to Julian Griffin on 07977 583 999 and tell...
Hello,
Im using european clio cup spec grooved brake disks and performance friction pads on my Cup. The difference over standard is night and day. Fade and soggy pedal never happens however hard u abuse the brakes.
Combining this with rainsport tyres and my new suspension set up I can drive...
KDF - I have Rainsports on my Cup and find them to have very soft side walls which I find flexes more than the contis, so at the limit the car feels more squidy and unsafe unless thats me. Ive just gone through front tyres in 1000 miles.
CocoPops - Keep the 172 rip all the interior out except for drivers seat throw some more mods at it like sequential box and have it as an all-out raw track car. Or u could just keep it standard.
Hows the exhaust?
Agree with Scooby Stu. Use to own a standard 1.8T Cupra and handling did suck compared to Cup, which is why I traded it for the Cup. The chassis is from a 1995 polo so not good. The interior is much better than a clio but it depends what u want.
Upgraded my sides and dipped with PIAA bulbs last year for the Cup and it looks like it has xenons now. Looks much better than std and u can see more in the dark i think.
Ive asked Reno MK about this before (that is condensation and the clutch) and they look at u like ur stupid.
Went in today to have coolant and power steering topped up as both on minimum level which worried me.
Was charged £5.50 for coolant top up and told they had run out of ATF, so had to...
Ive got the ECU from Rsport and done 22,000 miles and mine goes like a rocket uptp 140. I can sit at 130 put my foot down and it picks up the same as if I did it at 100. Not gone passed 140 yet so will have to find quite road for testing.
You will find the more miles u pile on the better the...
Time to pop down to MK then and see what it looks like in the flesh so to speak.
Lewy - Have they only got it for the day or is it there test car for a few months?
Ive got so many rattles, squeaks and bangs now at 20,000 miles Im not sure if the car will last another week.
Count me in. I tried to get this sorted two weeks after delivery in Sept 2002 but as others have said, Renault told me not to drive it so hard. Er, Im still running it in!!!
Should...
Last time I spoke to Rsport their suspension package was about £1100 because it had fully adjustable dampers (bilstein I think) with Eibach springs plus some other things i cant remember. Too pricey for me!
Got A539s because they were 40 quid each. So cheap as chips but very slidy in the wet. Dont get me wrong its good fun sliding around but not when your tired from a days work and you cant be arsed to fight the steering wheel.
I bought Yoko A539s in the summer. Great in the dry, even better then contis but when it rains and the surface is greasy with off cambers it can become a nightmare. You do have to adjust youre driving style.
Ill be trying GSD2s if I can find them cheap enough.
Cup wheels are 7" wide yes, so will a 205/45/16 be ok and will it improve grip?
Black Circles have GS G3 for above size at £93.80 each. Not much difference in price between a 195 or 205. Can anyone find anything cheaper?
thanks
For info. I thought the Eiback sportline kit was better suited to Cups and 172s and only the Eiback pro kit better suited to 172s due to Cup suspension being similar to pro kit.
Yeah. I run a green filter with ktec cat back. Seems to make a good package for about £500. Fuel economy is the same as before. If you dont bother with IK/viper etc the pipes to std airbox need better positioning to suck more cold air up.
Ive had the ecu fitted for a few months now, and personally I dont think it gives much more power etc. Youll find that you have a better response from the throttle, torque will come in quicker than before, low, mid and top rpm pull will be better across the range and will rev smoother and more...
