Hiya,
One thing has been on my mind regarding 172 brakes (on a Ph1 if that makes any difference).
Mine don't seem to have any initial bite, I've heard that they aren't overly servo assisted but they feel very weak initially. Pressing on they stop well enough and it triggers the ABS no problem...
THought I would post on here to see whether anyone in or around York fancies fitting my brakes......
Ive bought them, just need them fitting....someone was doing them for me but can no longer.
Just posting before I take it to a garage
Ill obviously pay and supply you with unlimited cups of...

Hi guys,
Just recently both my rear brakes have stopped working, yes i know the rear brakes hardly do anything especially on a cup but they got to the point of being permanently rusty!
My bro has looked at it for me this morning and came back to me with the following,
No Fluid at either rear...
At the moment when I get on the brakes, the pedal compresses as normal, but the brakes are locking up and there's a sort of scraping noise for a second. The pads and discs are both ok, they were new not too long ago. Doesn't matter if it's wet or dry, the same thing happens.
Hello All
I’ve started running a Clio RS racer in the VLN championship at the Nurburgring and I am having an issue with the brakes being very over-sensitive.
It only takes a very light pressure to apply full braking force and ultimately its extremely difficult to modulate them and generally...
The brakes have been squeaking for a while now when pressure is applied to the brake pedal. The discs and pads are all fine, and infact were only recently replaced. In the past I have sprayed copper grease onto the shims and this seems to temporarily solve the problem for about a month, only to...
I painted the callipers on the MK2, and the paint on only one side seems to be ever so slightly craking, even though I used hammerite.
Is there need for a primer/ laquer to be applied?
My brakes squeal when travelling slowly and brakes applied lightly. Was wondering whether it would be brakepads or what not, so is there any advice before i book it into a garage. Brakes work fine just annoying. Also read something about brakedust so if there is anything I can do myself to try...
there is absolutely nothing happening in the first 3/4 of the brake pedal. even the bottom 1/4 is really weak. when i pump the pedal with the engine off it goes stiff(ish) execpt for the first 1/4 of movement.
i did not bleed the brakes afterward, wasnt sure if i had to?
help and solutions...
Hey all!
I had my brakes replaced after hitting the Nurburgring for the 1st time in my Clio 182. A mate did it, and he said the bolt which held the caliper to the hub had threaded. A few days later, the caliper came loose and I lost all of my brake fluid, so had no brakes!
Basically I took it...
After some new front brakes, lookin on the K-Tec site and come across these; http://k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=1148&appid=2
To be honest ive got no idea what im looking for :p
Anybody got an reviews on them?
Fairly cheap etc? worth spending more for a better set up?
Adam
I currently have Brembo front pads and Discs with the original calipers. I don't fancy changing the calipers just yet but the discs have scored very badly.
Can anyone recommend a better disc and pad, proven to them to work really well. The car is used for track days 'enthusiastically' by me and...
Ongoing problem.
Brakes were really stiff to use, I located what looked like air leaking from a fairly shoddy vacuum set up. (On ITBs) Danny at 519 has made a nice tidy replacement job for that - which improved pedal feel slightly, but did not solve it...
Put some new discs (Brembo HC) and...
Guys,
I’m having issues with heat through the brakes/ tyres and wheels.
I have melted 2 spigot rings and 3 center caps i have now taken out the inner arches and it still holds a lot of heat, thinking of taking out the fog lights but...
Will this have an adverse effect on the air movement...
My mk2 has drum brakes as opposed to disc brakes at the rear. I was just wondering if it's still possible to use camber shims to alter the rear camber even though they are drum brakes?
Hiya
I've been looking about and noticed the Megane DCI 80 brakes are 280mm disks, do they use the same calliper's, pads and discs as the RS Clio's by any chance ?
Thanks
Paul
I fitted my new rear brake discs to my trophy on the weekend and ever since then when driving slowly with windows down I can hear them dragging slightly....
I have done about 100miles since they were fitted and I can still hear them...
The car has Bendix pads on the rear and they were not...
Just been to Kwik Fit after i needed a new tyre fitted quick on my 182 - and they said both my rear Discs & Pads need replacing as they are down to the minimum (2mm on the pads left) - they quoted me £464 for the lot....this seems a bit high - is it a fair price or could i get it a lot cheaper...
I have seen these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250862616573&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
and I want them! Would they fit a clio 182? Has anyone got photos of RS clio's with 14 inch wheels? Any draw backs?
Guys and Girls...
