i was wondering what other peoples oppinions on what brake discs and pads all around and what would be the best as im willing to spend the money as its oright having all the power but you need to stop haha and have the rear discs got pressed bearings in them for a 05 clio 182?
I've never known a car to eat so many discs and pads I'm starting to think there's an under lying issue !
when I bought the car after a while I replaced all discs and pads and both rear bearings , after a while the rear bearing went again ( probably because they were cheap ) but also that rear...
are they any good? what calipers do they use, just seen there kit using 4 piston calipers and 2 piece disks for only £820 seems a bit cheap to me?

Having owned a 172 cup for 4 months now (but only driving it occasionally as it is the good lady's run around), I can't help feeling the brake performance is a little "iffy". They have never been what I would call effective given the capablity of the car. This I proved further yesterday by...
Just having some mtec drilled and groved discs and pads fitted to my 02 172. The mechanic says the abs ring is loose and won't fit correctly, anyone else had this problem?
cheers
Hi, I am new here on board.
Just a short question if is any rear brake conversion available for 172 as I have drum brakes in rear and would like to instal disc brakes?
Ignoring all the threads about "Standard callipers are fine", "Wilwoods bend", "I wish I could afford APs"... lets just say you've got 4pots and they're AP/Brembo/Compbrake/HiSpec/Wilwood/whatever.
I've seen comments a few times about pedal travel being rubbish & needing different master...
My pads have about 70% left on them, my discs are a little warped I believe and need replacing. It was a pretty hot day today and was driving in the car for 4 hours, stuck in a lot of traffic, country roads, pretty quick, harsh braking etc. Once we'd arrived at our destination (Skeggy!) I...
Hello all, I have a 182 with coilovers, 15" r888 tyres but need to sort out the front brakes.
currently I'm running std discs and ebc yellows with braided hoses and dot 5.1 fluid. This set up is pretty good but I'm still getting brake fade !!
any ideas to the best solution as I do quite a few...
Hi guys here's my quandary, I fitted new rear pads about ten days ago and since doing so I've had an awful rotating sort of noise, now I think it's a N/S/R wheel bearing on its way out, can't here a lot of noise when jacked up and spun but I think I can here something other than the pads...
Im gonna be bleeding my brakes this weekend so I need a definite answer please. What is the correct order to bleed them? I have searched but every thread says a different order :S.
also how much new fluid am I likely to need to do a proper job
Noticed yesterday that the brakes on my 200 was completely knackered, the diagnols are the worst (front passanger and rear driver), what would caus the brakes to wear like this? Had an abs warning light on about 2 month ago but reset after engine restarted, would this make any difference?
What...
Brakes have barley any feel and the pedal is very spongy. Not really sure what's wrong, new disks and pads at the back, fronts both have loads of life and recently just had the fluid flushed, also had new calipers about a year ago and have made sure the runners and pistons are both free, so...
I got in the car this morning and drove down the road and for a second i thought i wasnt going to stop, until i pushed really hard to the brake pedal. The brakes feel stiff as if the car was turned off. When i drive for a little while, they work fine for one press then they go back solid again...
I want some opinions on these... i know one of my rear bearings are going as im getting a terrible noise from the rear drivers side wheel..
also the discs look terrible and pads are on the limit so im guessing these will solve all the problems i have?
I know there's better out there but i dont...
this may be a question of catastrophic ignorance........
is there any difference between the brakes on my 1.6 compared to 172/182 brakes, as i have discs all round ?
reason for asking is i'm looking to upgrade the brakes when changing them rather than simply replacing what's there already...
Can you buy the pads and discs separately for these? Local garage tried telling my gf that you can't buy the discs without the pads for these for some reason!? Seems strange to me.
Im after new discs and pads all round just medium quality as the 182 is just used as pleasure and for work im thinking apec or does yous reccomend summit else not to expensive cheers.
hi all intermittently when braking my pedal would go quite hard the brakes are crappy as it is but when this happens I have to literally stomp on the pedal to stop any ideas no leaks of fluid :s
I keep finding my breaks are over heating on road/track mintex discs n pad dot5.1 fluid but my disc glow red quite alot n fad really easy what are the best upgrade don't care about price if they work better
Please can anyone help me. I just had an abs sensor replaced but my brakes have started feeling a little gravelly when I brake at low speeds like it did before but I don't have any dash lights on or anything. Had new rear discs an pads last year and front ones the year before
Just had a near miss, bloody dog ran straight across the road and I thought there was no way I was gonna stop.. Forgot I was in the little Kango though and it stopped me instantly.. Very Lucky DOg indeed.. Another pat on the back for Ash :)
I think i already know the answer, but are they the same as the models with ABS?
Mines just failed its MOT on dead rears (I honestly forgot they needed changing..), and they've come back with a quote of £210 fitted for new ones as they have the ABS rings.
Can't find any online now typically...
I changed the rear discs/bearings/pads and coils, just wanted to check a few things that I want sure about:
The rear beam fell spat down on the ground when I removed both dampers (should of have a jack under it but forgot, silly me!), the impact was on the brake carriers, would I have damaged...
Ah bad times! Got a track day tomorrow morning so got the 197 out last night for a clean and once over, it's been sitting in the garage for approx. a month and a half unattended.
During the drive to the jetwash I noticed the brakes were very poor, almost zero bite and on a damp road emergency...
These really worth it? Mainly used as a road car but will have some track day action few times this year . Also what kind of brake fluid would be best as that needs changing as the boiling point is pants . Cheers
