182 backbox... I know I know, but its a mundane thread so its fine

  GB 182 FF
When I changed the mounts on the 182's backbox on sunday I found that the bracket was acutally OFF to backbox on the passenger side :(

How much are new exhausts from Renault, and what is the expected lifespan of one? (my car has done 92K and I have no idea if thats on the original backbox lol, the mount rubbers were proper funked though but thats not an indicator)

I like the std lack of noise, so want to avoid an aftermarket one if possible, unless there is a near silent option easily avaialble....

Ktec do the stealth system but i think it is only available in cat back form - not just the backbox you need.

I have the standard system on mine but from reading on here they dont seem to last too long!

Try posting in the 'Wanted' section maybe?

Standard back boxes are about £400 from Renault I believe. Can you not get the hanger just welded back on? If not a rs 192 exhaust is the quietest.

I could get it rewelded, but tbh it all looks a bit tatty and minging under there so a new one would be ideal tbh.

Can the RS192 be purchased for less if I dont expect 10ps to be added lol

don't buy one from Renault they are £500+ and made of cheese. my prospeed isn't much louder than standard.

Mines gone 95k and 6 years before needing replacement, but okay. Of course I have no idea how old that one is, but £50 is worth a pop for 6 months..

a stainless aftermarket catback system will be less money that just the back half of a renault mild steel system. Rememeber you also have to cut the original system in the right place, and use the correct joiner sleeve which is around £25 aswell

The original rear back boxes from Renault are double skinned and made of cheese - utter tripe.

If i were you id get a Miltek isnt intrusive at cruising and only really comes into play under load

hmmmmmm This isnt looking good... I know its a chav car but I dont want to sound like one lol

they dont have to be loud, especially if you retain the cat. I fitted a janspeed/k-tec 2.25 inch system with center silencer for a customer just before christmas, standard cat still fitted, and it's barely any louder than standard

Having seen the 'quality/life' of milteks on another brand/model of car, I'd sooner put a renault exhaust on lol

Does Mr Fish in Harlow do custom exhausts or is that not his bag?

I'll ditto this the janspeeds are pretty much standard noise levels. Ie not enough :p.

Are the OE system/boxes mild? (I know they are known to rot but I've seen 'stainless' rot from certain aftermarket exhaust makers lol)
