Picked up this little beaut from Bath Renault today, was suppose to be traded in at our Trowbridge branch but never made it.

Made my way over to Bath from Trowbridge at 2pm today, armed with trade plates and a few tools. I was told it was a non runner due to headgasket failure.

Checked the oil, full of water, header tank was empty. Stuck some coolant in and she started straight away. It stalled about 6 times but once it was warm it was ok ish.

Pooed my pants all the way back, as the engine temp was creeping up in traffic and it was idleing at about 3-400 rpm.

Got it back to work, again header tank was empty and stank of exhaust gases.

So in the morning i shall get it on the ramp at work, see if it needs anything for mot, which i dont think it does ( drove really well ) Price up a headset and cambelt, give it a service and i think it will be good to go, and then sell on.

Interior is mint, looks like new. Outside seems staright, scratches/scuffs etc. Needs a feking good clean and machine, fresh plates and new trims.

Will get more pics up as i go along.

Will be sorting this scruffy headlight with the usual tricks, also bumper plastic is in need of a resto.

Did some work today on the clio, quick wash down at work (taking advantage of their water

)Got the arches cleaned out as they were minging.

Checked it out on the ramp and all its needs to pass an m.o.t is a track rod end and rear wheel bearing which will cost me £20 for both parts.

Got it home, into the garage, took the head off, ready for the new gasket set when i get them ordered.

Is it just the gasket that's perished and nothing else that's gone? Still for thy price it a bargain and looks tip top.

How much do you pay for a head skim Ali?

Our place has just gone from £45 up to £65!! I can understand a bit of an increase but £20 seems a bit steep!

Looks nice all cleaned up though, will look tip top with some proper Renault trims on it rather than that Halfords crap.

But what's the point in spending £150 on it if the head resembles a bannana??

  53 Clio's & counting
For the sake of an extra 50 quid, id get the head checked, be a right bummer if you out it back together and it didn't run due to the head being fooked - another £35 on another gasket set and then more on a head matey

awesome :) What will you sell it for? nice tidy profit i imagine and a nice healthy car for someone's first car or similar :)

I would do something like this as a hobby if I had the space, and be happy if I made 100 quid. Good bit of fun having things apart!

I bet you can clear £1000 profit from that.

Or use it while you sell the Audi and look for a beemer?

Oh f**k me, you do know what you're doing then?

Cheeky b*****d :rasp:, havent got a clue what to put it up for tbh? Its a 2001 on a Y, 103,000 miles last owner since 2002, Now has a fresh engine and will have 12 months mot soon, what do ya reckon?

Possibly thinking about that dan, run this, sell the Audi, find me a 330i touring!!

In that case, I'd put it up for £1195. (Didn't realise it had cracked the magic 100k)

Got the drivers side headlamp sorted out earlier, the plastic lens had suffered from the usual sun damage and had glazed/pitted over.

So, what do i attack it with? ummmmmmmmmmmm
