well that knocks swapping it out easily a pain. I'll get a beam and start scratching my head as to what pikey mix I use on the twingo 👍🏻

So I had the alignment done this eve, caster is now at around 4 degrees, camber set at 2.1 and about 10min tow out. I drove there with 5 degrees of tow out! camber was 2 on one side and 3 on the other?

It's safe to say theres a massive improvement at the front end. The whole lot feels nice and tight, super nimble and the feedback is great, you can really feel it's all tightened up. Handling has stepped up massively with relatively little changed. I'll get the rear beam in and working then look at replacing the wishbone and beam bushes

Also fitted a favourite of mine. The nylon type gear knob. The oem gaitor didn't reach the base of it so I sleeved the shaft with some silicone. In the next day or 2 I should have a few ball end studs and I'll be trying a diy short shift mod, very similar to the early meg 225 versions. There is literally no one selling a short shift kit for these or the clio tce that I can find.

So as no one seems to do a short shifter for the Twingo or Clio 1.2 TCE so i gave it a quick crack. Final results are just over an inch less throw and the gear lever sitting half inch closer to the driver. Nothing major, i didnt really find the standard shift that long tbh but i kept seeing people asking for a short shifter. Took me all of 20min to do. This is how you do it.... The PMT way

You will need a drill, pilot and m8 tapping size, 6.5 or 6.7 will do for this. An M8 x 1.25 tap. Also you will require a 10mm m8 ball ended stud HERE

Remove everything thats in the way of the shift mechanism, mine was easy to get to as i have relocated the battery so i just removed the air filter.
It will look like this

Theres pretty much only one place it can go due to the shape of the bracket and the cable end. I marked mine up, pilot drilled it, then through with an m8 tap (y)

After you have done this get the 10mm ball end stud and thread it in the hole you created. I fitted mine with a spring washer to raise it slightly and then added a dab of thread lock.

Then pop the cable end onto the new ball end

Make sure everything moves freely and the car engages gear nice and smooth, refit everything and enjoy your slightly shorter shift (y) Boom, mic drop, done :D

Vids showing the difference

Standard throw

And the pmt short shift

Oooo just managed to bag some RS front seats. One of my peeves with the gt is it seats. It's like driving on a bench, and on track days you hang off them.in the corners. I really liked the ones in my 133 and these arnt too far away. Hopefully collecting in the next week.

Google images to show the difference

I got a little bored, so i made some intercooler ducting up. It's always annoyed me how the front mount kinda just sat there, it's good at what it does due to its size but it could be better, These help hide it some more and should help it be a little more efficient. When the number plates on you wouldnt really notice much is going on there.

Took a drive out today across some nice roads in wales with Mrs Ewok to pick some seats up. Car kept flashing the eml and idling lumpy. Took it easy as it seemed to cruise fine but it looks like the injector i replaced a few weeks back has packed in, pulling the leads off number 1 makes next to no difference at idle but the car clears up when revved. Something I need to look at this eve I think.

Anyway, i picked up some twingo RS Seats, and have fitted them in, such a small thing has made it alot nicer place to be. Will give them a wet vac soon. I also got some Interior wing mirror covers as mine had holes in from a previous owners tweeters, so nice to replace them finally

Decided to write up a little tuning guide that might be helpful for people looking to tune the D4ft

Also i have now got a 182 rear beam in the garage. It needs sensors, brake lines, pads and bushes but i will plod along doing that and get it thrown on the car

not much, I've got it on a spread sheet. 250rpm maybe? but there are a few longer combos out there I just used what I found in the scrappy

not bad, yeah be interesting to see what different ratios were available as I know both our dci 90 clios had a different ratio box from each other lol

Little update. Car has been motd, failed on a bulb and something else easy but covered for another 12 months now.

I stripped the 1*2 rear beam down to find that it's basically identical to the GT beam including arb/tortion bar size. Only difference being the disks vs drum brake setup. What I will probably end up doing is fitting an arb and the brake setup as my beam is in amazing condition vs the 15 year old clio one I have.

I'm awaiting some laser cut parts for the big turbo conversion though the more time on spend on it the more I want to build a hybrid 2ltr turbo setup for it....... I am very fond of the little 1149cc engine though and think it will easily do over 160bhp with the right combo of parts on it. Mine is still clocking 45mpg nearly every tank which makes it really good as a commuter with a little fun chucked in.

A few more parts arrived for the big turbo conversion. Need to get a cheap universal actuator on there and buy in some stainless bends and straight and i can start on the down pipe. I will probably mate it to the decat pipe i already have for ease though i might try and increase the outlet size off the turbo from 2 inch to 2.5 to aid spool. Don't want to run a full 2.5inch system though as for the power and size of the engine im sure it would be overkill. The rear housing is already divorced so i had the flange made to suit it, trying to stop myself giving it a bonnet screamer pipe and make it so it rejoins the DP. Car also clocked over to 47k this morning, pretty sure it was sub 35k when i got it.

knew of the car a while back, that engine swap would make mine a great sleeper and my stock ECU would run the same engine no issues. Very tempted to do similar next year if I still have it. Need to pull the engine and get the big turbo fitted to make some decent numbers first.

Dragging up an old thread here but adey did you manage to sort a bigger turbo if not how far into it did you get any progress pics

This is as far as i got with it. Its now on my shelf doing nothing. Tf035 turbo mounted to a slightly modified stock manifold. Bracket for the actuator and an actuator would need sorting. There's a laser cut stainless flange so a downpipe can be made. Oil feed would be needed, oil return looks close but would need joining with some high temp silicone to the oem oil return and the water cooling to the turbo either blocking off (what id do) or piping up to the new core. Will flow 170bhp all day long should do a max of 210/220ish if pushed. Not sure if the engine would do it though.

If i was doing it again id fit this turbo and have my cam reground for some more lift and possibly to move the power band up abit and have the rev limit taken up another 1000rpm.

cheers mate thanks for the reply might carry on from where you have left off will update if i ever get around to doing so.

Big turbo dug out of the scrap pile. I took it apart to make sure everything looked good inside and to drill and tap the compressor cover to blank a pipe off. Still might never make it onto a car but I was a little bored this morning.

ooo i gave up on the idea of a bigger turbski for the GT and bought myself an RS which is in the process of being boosted, but id love to see the limits of the 1.2 engine.

this is the second time youve bought it back now isnt it :ROFLMAO:

Good shout, think they do 200-220bhp on the stock internals so plenty there, make sure you get a build thread up here and over on turborenault (y)

Yep, third time ill own it now 😱

Yep Indeed mate, forged rods in it with a full rebuild, pistons are good for 300bhp so hoping for around 250/260bhp to keep it reliable. But ill definetly get a build up on here soon, keep up the good work!

That would be great to see.

Cheers man, will see how it pans out and what funds allow. Most things I can make but materials, machining, clutches and mapping all cost.

not sure what it is with these cars, ive never bought one back but im on my 3rd one lol

This is my 3rd Twingo, I had a GT new in 2007/08, an rs133 in 2016 I think and then this one which I've now owned 3 times. Great fun cars really. To be honest though I'm not sure I would of bought another one if I couldn't have this one back.
