Nice work on the inlet .
The xr2 looks stunning , did you end up selling it o a guy in Aberdeen with a CSL.

  Porsche GT4
All looks like cracking, I have the Corbeau Revenge in my car it's superb seat very well balanced

Yeah thats my aim to but then you have the problem of making a fully functioning interior loom which is quite a task for a road car and not the easiest for a race car either unless your handy with wires which I ain't to great it just boils my p**s. I can see myself piggy backing the standard ECU to get it going then doing a rewire and RT dash next winter.

Did you cut out most of the standard engine loom for things like acoustic valves and carbon canister etc when you fitted your Omex?

I will decide when I see it off, might get it welded to make thicker if need be. Bonus of cheaper sensors this way if there prone to stop working/break.

Yep - cut all that out, and the injector loom, coilpack, etc... pretty much everything was cut out back to the main trunk of the loom

No I bought it from Paul who now has a CSL amongst other things, did you know the car? It got sold to a guy using it daily from Peterhead to Abz, will be fu**ed now.

Where did you take your reference from, just asking on here. So what did you use for wiring? A semi assembled omex loom, the one with the plug and loads of wire tails?

I know Paul through the ford scene as I have had Cosworths for year, and thought I recognised it from some of the pics I had seen.

Yeah the semi assembled loom - but mine was assembled by the previous owner of the bodies who made a complete **** up of it - so going to make a new one over winter

Just had some pretty s**t news IMO, looks like I will have to go out to Jordan with work on the 18th of Aug to work a month and month rotation so progress is going to slow down a fair bit...and to make things worse I have to work in the workshop mon-fri starting monday until then.

There goes the idea of getting the car out late summer :cry:Looks like it will be into new year until a wheel is turned in anger on a track day which then pushes my idea of racing further back too.

So plan is:

Get 2 more slicks fitted to my wheels, get axle complete and get the car as a full roller.
Tackle as much of the cage as possible and get primed to protect.
Tidy up lock up and get all valuable parts home and usable parts inside car.
I well then have time to collect the few parts I need to complete and I won’t have any excuse except getting it painted and mapped and new shafts which is depending on other people.

On the plus side my 2nd set of brake ducts have arrived, the quality is worse than my 1st, I have seen new born's that could do a better job than Renault Sport with fiberglass, you would think they are modelled on a written off car. Anyway a half decent fit should be found from the 2 sets.

Quick pic of my flocked dash, few marks , not ideal but a professional flock job. I will use the original to cut up as a marker for this one. Im not looking forward to that.

Tony, I know I know, the fit is just so different from one side to another surprising a large manufacturer such as Renault would send out such poor quality gear

  182cup & 172 racecar
Made by some hairy arsed onion sniffer up a dusty mountain road. Did they come with goat poo and chicken sh1t.

  182cup & 172 racecar
They are shaped like that, so as to collect the air that runs across the bumper, be surprised how little air goes directly in from the front.

  Cup In bits
Yeah I understand why they have a bulge on outer edge as the air would just wash by with the likes of the standard surrounds with fogs removed. when you seee pics of the Rsport promo cars there immaculate.

Quick question Tony, im looking at fitting 197 injectors as ill need something for the power I will run and there going cheap. from memory you run 225's right, were your standard injectors maxed and do you know if 197's will fit. (longer nozzle)

Another little update, couldn't be ar**d with the car today so decided to rebuild the trumpets, looking brand new again with some new bolts, paint and elbow grease.

My attempt at some arty pics - fail

Sent back my Circuit II's today and will be getting the 2012 Corbeau Revenge XL's hopefully there a better fit this time.
Bodies look good, something i never had the time/patience to take about and clean up :)

You sure your not building a show car rather than a track car ;)

Maybe. Not bad for a few hours work.

Anything I have bought 2nd hand or is a little tatty on the car I have rebuilt, cleaned etc.

This is probably the only time the cars going to completely stripped down so If I do it right first time then hopefully it will be easy to keep.

When you run these, was it on standard injectors the ones you sent me? did you know the duty cycle?

Standard injectors, no idea on Duty cycle, your running 421 catcam's aren't you? Are you keeping VVT? If so it will run on the map on the ecu, will just need tweaking as that's the setup i had on my old engine which was ph1 which has slightly different exhaust ports.

If you do run it on that map, beware the rev limit is set to 7800 so if you haven't upgraded your ARP's it could all end in tears.

We bought the Megane ones, but at the mapping session it was decided to stick with the original ones, think they are running at 98-99% so better atomisation (so I believe).

I guess 197 ones would fit, but don't quote me on it.

What power are you thinking of running?

Im hoping for around 215-20 with a low mileage engine that was healthy when comp tested and bore scoped. No base figure as I was too scared to dyno with no record of belt being done.

I plan on forging the bottom end when it lets go, so will be higher power later. My thinking was bigger injectors would be more reliable if not maxed.

They look to fit by size, it was more the longer nozzle and maybe spray pattern might affect figures.

Plan is to keep the VVT for just now as I have a new pulley to fit and don't want to sub out the timing of adjustable pulleys/cams.

Yeah 421's and ARP bolts are getting fitted and the raised limiter is all things I will want but it wont be going anywhere near that without being mapped. thanks for the heads up tho.

I believe they work better being maxed than not.

You can always change them later anyway, just a fueling map to do.

It's time to travel somewhere and extra cost, I'm more than likely going to travel 200 miles to get mapped anyway so would rather have all sides covered for going there and do it once.

Not had much time to get anything done on the car but received a few more parts, namely seats that I am now happy with.

2012 Corbeau Revenge XL along with some renault sport sabelt 6 points.

After getting another set of brake ducts to find a better fit, where as I can actually attach them as designed, they were the same rubbish fit on the n/s so I decided to get busy with a hack saw and fiber glass.

P1000439.jpg

P1000440.jpg

P1000441.jpg

Split it in two and fiber glassed 20mm wider at the front and added to the side piece, sanded, body filler, sanded and test fitted tonight. Some adjustments and it will be areet. pics to follow

When people say the cup racer brake ducts may need some adjustment, there not kidding, basically rebuilt the n/s one

I have been struggling for motivation recently to get on with things on the car but after my trip to Knockhill at the weekend to watch my mates in the scottish minis & saloon cars, I see what Im missing. So with my oncoming trip to Jordan only days away I thought I better get something done.

I wanted the car as a roller before I left so I set about finishing the axle, mounting h/brake cable holder and brake flexi mount.
I then painted the axle in red oxide and some black VHT, before anyone says I know its meant to be cured but is pretty tough without it and I ran out of stonechip.
Built up the axle with my painted stub axles I done a while back new disks and bearings/hubnuts, stub axle nuts, pure motorsport bearings and stud conversion and cleaned any bolt that looked tatty.

P1000448.jpg

P1000447.jpg

Turned out quite well, I was going to get it powder coated but decided against it so I could carry on.

I then stripped my rear coilovers, cleaned all threads and rebuilt with loctite in crucial places and greasing sperical and ball joint mounts
I then had my mate come round to help, these are really fiddly especially on the drivers side where the bolt is far to long to fit with tank in place so I shortened bolt enough to where I can remove the axle with tank In place.

P1000449.jpg

I decided not do anything with the cage and then made up my spare set of lower arms until pure motorsport release there adjustable arms.

P1000451.jpg

P1000452.jpg

I had been thinking about lighter doors, bonnet and boot but decided doors were most likely to get a whack when racing so decided on these for justnow, will arrive next.

Look to be really good copy and I have been assured no adjustment needed to fit.

So that's it for progress on the Clio untill I come home in a months time and I hope to get the cage finished/dash cut and mocked up, engine rebuilt painted and running leaving me to get custom drive shafts, brake pads all round, perspex windows/new windscreen and interior painted which should get done in Nov, hoping to get the car out on one track day before december and leave the car stored untill march...ish giving me time to recoup all this ££'s being spent and have savings to go to loads of track days and have some tuition in the new year.

Looking good!
Does the kit for the rear beam include the parts to put the lower shock mount into double shear or did you make that your self?

I'm still in two minds what to do with the rear beam on mine, tempted to leave it apart from doing the shock mount and then see how I get on. I've got a spare beam so if I decided to I could fit the kit to the spare and then swap, that way I would be able to tell first hand what difference it made.

Where are you getting the fibreglass panels? Do they quote what weight they are?

  Cup In bits
Yeah the PM kit comes with plates to beef up shock mount, decent kit, needs minimal fettling to fit. I just went for it as I have heard that cup racers have been known to have loose rear ends with slicks fitted so should stiffen things up nicely. Setups are also known to need reset after a race so these axles are really like cheese as standard. Also custom brake lines have to made but that ain't no biggy and it gets rid of the flexi before it goes into calliper.

I got the bonnet and boot from a guy on here that does rally cross, no ideas on the weight saving but at the price I had them for anything will be good, will weigh them a post findings when I get them. seller said they are a good bit lighter.
