Its all located on the bottom of the rear right quarter around the wheel and bump strip, rising up to about half way to the window.


Also, my MOT is in a week, would it pass like this? It is perfectly driveable btw.

unlucky mate, the good news is it only looks cosmetic, should be able to get the panel beaten out and then repainted and it will be as good as new. as for the MOT it will be fine mate

It is all body damage. Just really pissed off. The guy just came out of the junction as i was turning right. Practially no damage at all to his Alfa 156.

Defo. The panel is warped from the middle ridge downwards and along the sill. Fitted a new quarter panel to a MK2 that had less damage than that too I wouldn't worry, it's him that's paying for it anyway.

The guys insurance company has been in touch, (Tesco). They are picking it up, fixing it, bringing it back and providing me with a free hire car whist it's being repaired.

Now, heres a sticky situation,,......

my tax is due before the end of the month, and its likely that the car will be with the garage. do i declare it SORN? seeing as i cant tax it now, since the MOT will expire when the tax disc starts, and i wont beable to MOT it untill i get it back.

Would just tax it! You'll only have to tax it anyway and it prob wont be in the workshop that long! My mate totalled the front end of her car and ADR had it fixed and back to her in a week!!

its deffo not a write off. Im more worried about it passing the MOT tbh, but seeing as there are not jagged edges and its only the bodywork thats damaged, not the chassis, im hoping its ok.

My corsa had a huge chunk missing from the front bumper just in front of the wheel after a disagreement with a gate post! The MOT guys didnt say a word about it however failed the car cos the indicator bulb wasnt orange enough (u gota love N Irish MOT centres)

I'm guessing the car has gone to a UK Assistance repair centre if through Tesco. If so, a word of warning, make sure you scrutinise the repair job.

They are capable of doing a perfectly good job, just in my experience it took 4 trips back to get the car into an acceptable state (overspray/paint thin to primer on edges/badges missing when returned etc), More than likely all will be ok, although the above was poor on mine, they were efficient in doing the neccesary corrections.. ..eventually!!
