Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He

sensor calibration scale is in the ECU and is likely an editable table (it is on most systems). Temperature sensor is a thermistor, that is a temperature variable resistor. The resistance or rather the voltage seen back at the ECU is how the temperature scale is determined. Common sensors are used as the scales are known, if an incorrect scale has been entered that would throw your readings. I'd be tempted to get a temperature gauge

Ash, yes boil a kettle and see what it says in that, and try under your armpit too, thats 37 ish degrees
Probably just been miscalibrated.

Apparently rectally is the most accurate for 37*:S

Yes Dan on the ECU I have found "Coolant temp filter coefficient" which is set to 0.0156863

It's showing pretty accurate for the boiled kettle! How I could I test it at say 120 degree's? How are this sensors setup in the first place anything I can do?

Tried the kettle and it's pretty much bob on :( Don't fancy it under my arm now its boiling lol!

Boil a saucepan with a thermometer in it to 120?

Well done matey.

Haha okay well i'm trying to avoid ruining a pan and think I might be getting somewhere with the ECU!

Does anybody have experience with the SC/TDF ECU software? It says my total engine running time is 1.83019 hours and the the total time at 80-100% Throttle position is 0.081 hours now that just can't be right as its been on the dyno and the in race. Anybody know if 1.0 hours = 10 hours for example? It's registered nothing on the ECU above 110 degree's coolant temp so I'm confused by this piece of crap lol. All it says is 0.00211111 hours between 105-110 degree's

Please help I really don't have a clue with electrics :)

Thanks for that mate really helpful! I think it's now a sensor/dash issue but it's still running hot but not as hot as first thought so will see how I sort it :) Thanks again

I dont think so as mine said something like 84.40 hrs run time, which software are you running ?

If its the EC one try downloading the SC tune software as it has more info on it.

sounds like it's reset. Have you got a power kill switch?

Having seen the expansion tank with my own eyes when you pitted, theres no way that water was 120deg (at that point)

I thought that Jay, Fred opened it not that long after the race had ended and there wasn't any steam or excess pressure at all. I was expecting a fountain.

Yeah I was expecting a lot of pressure releasing, my car has way more pressure than that did in the system after I have had a bit of a drive around.

I was going to say when I saw the log book a few months ago it used to work :(

Not bothered with the EC stuff and just use the SC software :)

You have got a point there Dan, No it doesn't wipe it when the power is killed but the battery fully drained the other day at RS-Tuning and then was run for just over an hour so that's what it is and would explain why the Throttle position isn't what I would of expected from the race. Doh so that means no log of what actually happened in the race then! Looks like i'm going to have to get burning this oil and testing it lol
Told you so ;)
lol :)

Will look on the race tech stuff to see what it thought it was at pitstop :)

Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He

Jay the coolant temp at the entry to the pitstop was 102.9 degree's and by Craners on the out lap it was back upto 109 then kept climbing at 3-4 degree's a lap until the datalogger can't go any higher

I'm going to Teeside on Monday so will give it a beating and see what happens :)

Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He

I'm not sure how accurate they are but you have just given me a great idea Phil! I'm searching the house for a temp gauge and you have made me realise that my tyre temp gauge will do the job :)

Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He

Hahaha there ya go - just whack it on the thermostat housing

I know the more expensive laser ones are pretty accurate - used them before on an exhaust manifold to spot a lean cylinder - not sure about the cheapo ebay things though

Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He

Yeah haha!

Ahh okay yeah I only heard they aren't that accurate for stuff like tyres but apart from that I dont really know about them :)

What are TDFs strengths, is their core compentency electronics / engine calibration?
