Check your Cup Alloys!

Had the alloys of my Cup today to give them a good clean and polish inside the rim, only to find out that there was at least 6 or 7 paint bubbles/corrosion on each wheel. I have never used any acid cleaners or anything like that - just ye old soap n water. The motors only done 6k or so since I got it last September and it was even off the road through the winter

Anyone else noticed this?

Ive noticed the paintwork is sh*te under the arches - the lip of the arches paintwork is starting to fade and looks very speckled - cut corners I imagine they have!

Just back from Reno. Think I got the Saturday afternoon carwashing boy. They have offered to have them re-furbished for me, but told them that I want new ones. They are going to speak to their claims department and let me know.

A 9 month old car should never get its alloys refurbished.

I have brown on the inside of mine near the centre...no bubbles though. I guess a simple solution would to get them shotblasted and claim back on the warranty.

I had probs with my wheels when i had my cup , i had lots of little chips around the wheel,so took it up with renault and they wouldnt do anything.

Been at Reno the day to pick up the new alloys. Werent to chuffed about handing them over. But hey...thats life!

What the gave you new wheels!! Sounds good to me as they are superflowed so are very expensive and you can only get the 16inch direct from Renault. The Demontweeks only have 17inch superflowed. Sad life I lead.

Yeah thats the forming process for lightweight versions of the wheel. You can get the 16s from speedline of course but only ET38.5 from Ren.

friend took his car in for a service. the garage phoned him at work and said weve noticed you wheels are corroding slightly round the edges, this shouldnt happen so weve ordered 4 new ones for you.

the car had done 50 000 miles and is 2 and a half years old.



unfortunately his cars a Lexus. thought it was bloody genorous though as there 17s! Cant see Reno doing that somehow....
