Yeah I could buy the pms one but it’s not the strongest on the dogbone piece. It’s got bits cut out the middle to reduce weight. A friend of mine snapped his.

optimiz access do a solid dog bone, but with anything holomagated rally it’s not cheap

I’ve also ordered this which I know you’d like too ?

I missed this post. Where’d you get the gearbox/subframe mount from. The oe design is shocking.

So it was The Agbo Stages on Sunday. Never been there before but I think I’d watched every onboard on YouTube prior to the event. The goal was to be in the top 10 and be quickest fwd.

I had Rhys Edwards as a co driver who’s got a fair bit of experience. Something that’s been lacking on the other rallies I’ve done.

SS1
It started pretty well. It was slippy but I can drive the car in the wet just as quick as the dry with the Michelin’s.
Coming out of the water splash I caught a car that started 2 cars ahead of me. They’d already been passed and decided to block me rest of the stage. I lost 7 seconds timing from where I caught him to finishing compared to the next stage. That time lost turned out to be a kick in the teeth.
I was 16th quickest on that stage. But without the time lost I would of been 7th quickest through.

SS2
Felt loads quicker though. Had a little moment under braking through a tight right hander but looks nothing on the onboard.
10th quickest through the stage.

SS3 was cancelled due to a crash

SS4
Probably the worst stage of the day. Way to cautious where the car had crashed on the previous stage.

SS5
Again stage felt ok. Made a little mistake and ran wide on the grass dropping a few seconds

SS6
Loads better. Pace was back but caught a car in the stage. Luckily they let me passed but still lost a couple of seconds.
13th quickest through the stage and 13th overall at that point

SS7
Still on wets which was the wrong choice as the stage dried out but we put in a 9th quickest time and fastest fwd

SS8
Took the wets off the front and put the hoosiers on. Good stage and 10th quickest through. Now in a battle with Rob Cox for 11th. We did the exact stage time.

SS9
Big push on this one. Joint on stage time again with Rob Cox. 8th quickest though. And only 1 second in it between us. And only 6 seconds off 10th.

SS10
Cancelled the stage due to anaother crash. So couldn’t take the fight to rob for 11th. But if I didn’t meet 2 cars in stage I would of gained at least 9 seconds putting me comfortably 10th.

Gutted not to get top 10 but the onboards and stage times don’t lie. I would of been there. Im now looking at doing more rally’s like this as opposed to the circuit rally stuff I’d been doing. I’m going to keep my entry in for Anglesey next month but that will be one of my last circuit rally’s for the time being.

Shout out to @Hazza462 for finishing his first rally. Something that took me 12 months to do with car issues ?

Seeing as I’ve snapped 2 of the eBay mtec studs so far. I bit the bullet and bought some AI Tech studs from demon tweeks with copper nuts. I actually paid as much for these as I did for a full running 172. ? but hopefully I’ll not have issues with these. I’m going to keep the mtec ones in the rear for now until I charge rear discs

I’m also putting two brand new hubs on the front. Have a tiny bit of play in one.
And to make things easier I took the car out on Sunday after cleaning it for a little run. And ended up snapping a shaft. It snapped it the tri lobe

Been using the PMS ones for a while no problems and my mates had them in 18 months.

Just don't swing off them when checking nuts when hot.

Rallying is a lot harsher on them compared to track unfortunately though. Last thing I want is a wheel coming off at 100mph through some trees

First one snapped just putting a set of road wheels on before rolling road. And the one last weekend snapped in my hard when I put the socket on it to torque the wheels. Those 10.9 ones on ebay don’t look great from the inside where it’s snapped. Look more like cast than anything ?

Hope my PMS ones aren't the same then ?

SMC Stage at Anglesey tomorrow.

Cars had a new hub and driveshaft. And instead of doing the tracking somewhere near by eye I took it to TunedUK for a set up. Great work by Rich. Would highly recommend anyone that needs suspension or geometry work to give them a call.

Hoping to take the fight to the big boys at the front of the class tomorrow. Going to be hard where Anglesey suits the bigger powered rwd drive cars but I’ll give it a good go

Little write up about the SMC stages last weekend.

Was going well all day. Only issues I had was with tyres in the morning. I had to go hard compound on the front in 10’C. Which is unheard of in rallying. The fiesta R5 I was sharing the garage with ran the same tyres as me but medium all day. I thought the hard was even too soft.

Pushing hard all day I got up to 11th overall and 3rd in class. Only 5 seconds off 2nd in class and had took time out of him on the stage before.

But it all fell apart on SS7. The rear disc shattered on one of the last hairpins and ripped the calliper off. I should of rolled it over the finish with no brakes, Bit of a lack of experience on my part. So I was given a 30min penalty.

We managed to bodge it for the last stage to get a finish so I can progress to be able to enter for closed road rally’s

This is how I have to drive the Clio to get anywhere near the top of the class. For anyone who’s not into rallying. The mk2 escorts at the top of the class have 250/270bhp with sequential boxes. The Clio shouldn’t really get near them.

Took the car off the trailer to wash it and get it ready for the next event in a couple of weeks time.

New callipers, new discs from RPD and pads from PBS

New dust covers

And the bleed nipple snapped on the front calliper after flushing the fluid out. So handy having a car you can nick bits off

  Twingo 133 Cup,
Good luck with your events Nathan. Closed roads is definitely a massive step up in every way.

Quick little update after Dixies Challenge at Epynt yesterday

It was my first time on proper pace notes and first time there.

Had probably the best days rallying so far. Ended up coming 3rd in class and 17th overall. Hammering the seeding of 53 before the rally. We caught cars on about 4 of the stages. Luckily we didn’t loose to much time getting past them.

Can’t wait to go back there. The place was so fast with so many blind crests. I was brave with the notes but next time round I’ll be even quicker now I’ve got the experience there.

I’ll be upload videos to YouTube later in the week

The way it slides round is epic ?

How does it take the harsh landings after taking off over the crests? I guess you run a sump guard?

Handbrake is unreal on it now with the whole new rear set up.

But yeah takes to the landings fine. Obviously track suspension would be useless. The B14’s are ok. In an ideal world I’d have Reiger or proflex like my brothers. No such thing as a harsh landing with them

Slowly putting onboards on YouTube at the minute. Just put stage 1 and 2 on but the better ones are the later ones where I’ve been on certain bits of the stages before so could push a bit harder

I had somehow also missed this thread.... Just been all the way back through the thread.
Love how this gets used/abused/fixed and used again. Looks like you have had a lot of fun with it.

How did you find towing it with the Sprinter? I will be using our to tow shortly

Cheers mate. This year hasn’t been to bad fixing it. Gearbox is holding up well now.

And the sprinter is mega. Pulls the trailers really well. Get around 25mpg going to and from events with the van full of spares, but it’s a long old thing with the trailer on.

Subscribed now so will be keeping a good eye on the thread.
We have a 3L LWB (dual axle) so hopefully should suit towing well, but as you say it will be like a bloody artic... ha
