200kg less than standard... what have you stripped off it!
The engine and box.
Thanks for the offer dude.
But things are going to put on the back burner for a while.
Finally decided what I'm doing and this time it's actually happening. Already started saving for it.
I am...
Getting a 225 engine, currently on the lookout for one if anyone sees one cheap please holla at me.
And getting a plug and play ecu from Dan @ sjm.
Removing my engine, fitting this one and remapping it. Should see a steady 260bhp for a fraction of the price of a medium boost conversion too.
I just need room to do it really. And will be commencing after summer ends. Going to be taking Boris off the road. Which will also save me money too as currently that's £80 a month in tax and insurance then fuel on top.
Can't wait. If I'm honest I don't even need the extra power I just want to take the project into a new direction because I love a challenge and I just neeeeeeed to tinker.
I am going to use my 182 box, is was refurbished quite recently so should be good to go.How much do you have to change to use the 225 engine? Which gearbox will you use?
Are you really that unaware of the weight you can get these cars too?Lol 😂 must have!
That's a lot of weight saving considering it has a full cage too, so 30-40kg for that.

Lol ok mate, heres a photo of when it was at its heaviestObviously yeah, otherwise i wouldn't seem so surprised.
200kgs is a lot cosidering most bits on the car weigh naff all.
Sound deadening stuff, the carpet, and foam stuff. That must all be about 20-25kg!Lol ok mate, heres a photo of when it was at its heaviest
Since then, panels have been chopped more 4kg, dash has been removed 2kg, loom has been chopped around 2kg, passengers seat removed with steel sidemounts 12kg, fiberglass spoiler 2.5kg reduction, and a few other things Ive forgotten about.
Will be corner weighting it this month so should be sub 880kg im hoping.

Im sure its not as straight forward as putting in a megane engine mate, i was reading up about it before i had mine built and it costs more to do the megane engine swap.
If you're using the megane gearbox its a pain as you need to convert the clutch to hydraulic, mounts don't line up and the shafts aren't the right size either. Also need to figure out gear linkages etc.Im sure its not as straight forward as putting in a megane engine mate, i was reading up about it before i had mine built and it costs more to do the megane engine swap.

Well today I bit the bullet. It was already half getting there so decided to just go for it.
It's mad how much this weighs and adds up!

I was always going to do it I guess and if i'm going the full weight weenie it will be hilarious with 260bhp!
Plans are to tidy the wiring looms too, remove unnecessary wires. I want it all hidden so you just see bare metal.
this s**t is getting real!
Power to weight will be a good bragging right. I always said though with all that power, comfort is something that I had to have.... Are you going to get some different springs now? The billies may need to go?
I was also surprised at how much all the plastics seemed to weigh by the time I had pulled them out. Just makes driving in the rain worse, never in my life have I had to pull over as much for a quick wee on a slip road.
Dan, whilst you're doing looms and wire hiding, keep me informed on whatsapp throughout! Thats what I want to do over the next few weeks!
