Well what an awesome weekend!

Had @Matty1303 @fairm010 @Steven103 @optical @Josh @Alistair14 @jaswalker24 come over for a house warming party at my new house. Plans were to do a few car bits and go out for food and drinks.

Managed to get the Megane out of the garage despite it not having front wheels. Used the engine crane. Loads of random pics

We then went for food. @fairm010 looking creepy as f**k!!!

This thread is like an autobiography lol
Haha yeah I like to put other things in as it's these awesome guys (and obviously loads of others) who have contributed to helping with the car and also getting me up and running when things go pear shaped.

Ive made a list of things I need to do to get the car completed. It's quite a long list of smaller jobs, some having more priority than others.

20170119_200601-1_zpsmlfarmpu.jpg

Missed off a few things too as I realised last night.

Got a collection of Megane parts at the back of the garage which I need to list and sell.

20170122_172213_zpsvbhbm0ed.jpg

The engine is on the stand and I've dismantled it to get the cambelt cover off

Ac compressor is off now and I'm waiting on a stretch belt to arrive so I can fit the 182 pulley with it.

20170122_172224_zpspwkn0tos.jpg

Boris is back in the garage with the bonnet off so I can do the little odd jobs.

20170122_172244_zpstyxkdn3e.jpg

Forgot what the inside of the car looked like for ages

20170122_172312_zpshsgukfsb.jpg

Fitted the master cylinders to the pedal box with new bolts and washers. Something so so satisfying about having new ss fasteners.

20170122_172929_zpsztkn5msc.jpg

And my next issue is... Pedal box position.

Even with the seat the furthest it will go on the side mounts and subframes its not a comfortable position at all. I need to think about how I'm to solve this as the pedal box wants to be up and back where the original pedal box used to be ideally...

20170122_173432_zpsgkxhysbh.jpg

Got the fabbed driveshafts for the box conversion and tonight after Harry Potter I removed the cable ties holding them on, regreased them and fitted new boot clips.

Going to black Hammerite them when I get chance.

Nice to have crossed something off the list!

Next step will be getting rid of the shell and doing all the brake lines as I received most of the parts for it on Friday. 11 parcels arrived on one day Hahaha.

Brakeline, unions, t pieces etc and a massive thanks to @Matt555 for helping me with the very confusing brake line bits (din flares, imperial measurements are not something I've dealt with before) so cheers mate

20170122_231041_zps7ifuziau.jpg

Waiting on a brake line cutter and pipe bender, p clips and a bulkhead adapter for the rears as I want to do it neat and as properly as possible.

I'm now niggled about the pedal box situ...

Read the whole thread recently and what a change from page 1! Lots of little tricks you've done may end up being applied to mine now....

Megane conversion will be pretty potent!

Bloody hell that's effort. I just had a look at page 1 and you're right... That's a huge difference! Yeah I'm hoping it will be a laugh.

Fit a false floor plate to mount the Pedal box on, you need it a little more level with your Hips,
That Banana needs chucking out too.

This sounds expensive!

Yeah it's been at the bottom of my bag for ages, I'm taking the good one today! Haha

False floor for the pedal box could just be a bent piece of sheet welded in place. Or go fancy and make some bosses, weld them in place and have a mounting plate with a series of holes in for moving both plate and/or pedal box in any direction

More random bits of progress tonight.

Aluminium sheet arrived so stenciled around it with the original brake servo box. Drill holes and now I'm waiting on some tin snips from Amazon.

20170124_225411_zpsnpz6zdrs.jpg

The bolts in my car that are black are suffering with surface rust so my aim is to replace them all with stainless.

Got to use my new sexy riv nut gun too.

As I'll be spraying the engine I want to degrease it first. So I've wrapped everything up where water can possibly get in.

I'll degrease then remove parts and mask up and spray. Going for a nice zinc etch primer colour. Much like my engine table.

Got to use this lovely b*****d the other night.

20170123_204148_zpsyjrko0ef.jpg

Coupled with a brake cutter it gave me a nice finish.

Tonight I've just ordered an uprated fuel pump and a short shift for the megane box.

Starting to get motivated for it now.

Plans for this week are to fit the battery relocation kit and get the clutch ordered.

Made a fair bit of progress this weekend weaving in and out of going out.

Found some steel in the back of the garage and cut it to size to fill this void.

As i'm moving back the gear stick and raising it up I needed to put the bolt directly where the hole would be for the original gear stick

20170127_150227_zpsw9gp4rfy.jpg

Welded that in (still got no gas and using the gasless setting so the welds are so sloppy) Works though. Still waiting on some alu tube to act as a riser for that.

20170129_150835_zpsxfdgwmrb.jpg

Next step was to mock where I want my race battery.

20170129_162709_zps20pw4ggc.jpg

Rivnutted them. Best invention ever!

Finally had an hour or two to myself tonight so sorted some random jobs.

The dangling fuse box you can see in previous photos was doing my head in. So with the spare carbon fibre I had I mounted the fuse box to it with an m5 bolt. Got some new bolts on the way that are stainless to tidy things up.

20170202_214757_zps0jn2tfnm.jpg

It now matches the rest of the dash.

20170202_214803_zpsbvgju8df.jpg

Fitted the bulkhead adapter through the back of the car for the brake line to pass through

20170202_202922_zpsdpqtzbxy.jpg

From underneath

20170202_215051_zpscfoqdyxv.jpg

Mounted the brake and clutch res bottles by riveting the bracket underneath the scuttle panel

20170202_202901_zpsmpnfsfqk.jpg

20170202_202850_zpsxyxpz9yf.jpg

Starting to take shape now...

20170202_223252_zpsoct8uroo.jpg

Weekend plans are to strip the parts off the engine like inlet and alternator etc and spray them. Got some paint from Halfords the other day. Gone for a generic silver but it should look good when it's all clean in the bay!

Also got my number plate off as I'm drilling holes where it currently is

20170131_201650_zpshgf3f3mt.jpg

And got a stick on vinyl number plate on the way.

When fit the battery cable live in, remember to fit a jump start post under the bonnet for when the battery inevitabley goes flat, otherwise it will be a pig trying to get the jump leads under the seat

Strong progress dude, look forward to checking it out tomorrow.

Can't say I've ever been a fan of vinyl number plates though - can you not cut holes in the normal plate recess then just have the current plate removable for track use?

Dan, foot plate for the pedal box...this one is carbon fibre, but along the lines of what I previously suggested
