First attempt at speed shots

Went karting over the weekend to Mile End circuit next to Canary Wharf. Took the DSLR out to see if I could get the hang of the blurry background tecnhique.

After much faffing about I got this image. Still a long way to go, but I was mighty chuffed to have finally pulled it off.

Try not to use such a long shutter speed as 1/50 is going to be bloody hard to get right.

You will still get a blurred background changing it to 1/200 or 1/150 etc but come away with more keepers.

Look at the motorsport photography sticky and there are various shots at different shutter speeds for referance.

That looks ace! As said above, dont need to use 1/50, 1/250 will be fine

Yeah this was on 1/80. On the TV mode I think.
