  Inferno 182 w/ Recaros ;)
Nice car mate, that vivid mode on your camera seems to have made the colour really stand out. Looks very different in these couple of shots of mine:

  172 Ph1
Very nice love the colour!! bet your well haps ;)

So what made you make the switch from ph1 to 182?

I have been toying with this idea too. What differences have you noticed between the two?

parts were wearing out quickly, cost me best part of £600 in just 3 months. The 172 had a great life, driven as intended on tracks etc.. so it was no fault of the car. Just made economical sense to get rid of it at this time.

Differences between the 172 and the 182... well where do i start. They feel like very different cars to drive. The immediate thing to point out is the lack of the cable throttle on the 182. This makes it very "soft" in operation and there is a noticeable delay in response. Once you've overcome this barrier, its all happy driving. Power seems very similar, being a heavier car but with a wee bit more power balances it out.

The 182 is much more comfortable, even compared to the 172 on its standard suspension. the 182 seems much better bolted together, and feels better made inside, with the soft touch dash a pleasing element.

Handling on the 172 was much better than what ive experienced on the 182. I havent noticed any benefit so far of having esp on the 182, although not driven it in the wet as of yet.

The biggest improvement over the 172 is the "toys" such as the climate control which i think is excellent, very useful especially in "auto" mode. I also really like the cruise control, which i have used several times already and found very easy to operate. The xenon's are very impressive... i dont think i could go back to a car without them now ive experienced them properly.

Downsides, the 182 exhausts cover the rear windown in vapour when driving in the cold and booting it for a while... not a big problem, just a niggly annoyance. Auto wipers are a pain in the arse, with no intermittent wipe function. Just these and the handling compared to the 172 which let it down really.

Overall though, im very pleased i made the upgrade (yes, i do see it as an upgrade) and dont have any regrets.

err, hope that answers your question! Im going to be writing a review/comparison to the 172 on my website in due corse, so keep your eyes pealed! :)

after a few weeks, im now much more comfortable with the car and have explored the handling more.

i can confirm that i find the handling is on par with the old 172 on eibach springs...
