Got my Cup!!!

  GW Clio 200

Picked her up about three hours ago and Im well pleased with it, fecking excellent.

I just gave it a wee blast round some derelict industrial estate, the roads dip and curve and theres some great straights, like a little rallye circuit. Didnt go to mad as Im still running in, but the car is class!!!. Handling and performance is shh...weet!!

Anyway, gonna go take my sister out for a spin, shes dying to ave a go.

Nah Rich, I love this car, really love it. The speed and handling are fantastic. although when I drive to fast I give myself a headache

I do try not to rape the ass of it, but it screams for it............. I aint gone to mad, but its getting harder to resist.

Got some great roads round my way where you can floor it bigtime without the worry of "Mr fecking Gatso"

Great car, and Im loving every minute...................

Barstewards! At least you saved yourself around £2000 by not buying the 180.

Put it towards modifying the Cup.

What does your sis think to the cup?

She REALLY likes it :D alot.....

I owe her bigt!me after what she done for me while I was without a vehicle. She let me have her new 1.2 Dyanamique for over 2 months, I put about 2500 miles on it. Ill have to get her a large Christmas Prezzie this year.

She was a bit nervous driving it as she only passed her test 4-5 months ago and only drives at weekends when shes off work. But she really enjoyed it.

Well..........

I have not been going mad but I have give it a push on a few occasions. I have always had new cars and I have heard varying methods of running in. I wont be speeding everywhere I go but I certainly wont refrain from giving it some if I fancy it.

I have done this on all the cars I have had, and never got any problems, so why change.

I will be laying off for a bit now while I get to 650 miles, then Ill start hitting it hard.

going above 6000 revs does not means you are going to fukk the car up, not at all. so from time to time I would give it a push if I where you.

My m8 just got his 206 GTI180 and has mailto:r@ped">r@ped it from day one, he is getting 0-60 time averaging 6.8 secs. ( so he says ) which is quick for a 180. Some cars love it, some dont. "Mine does"

Im not bothering with the 3500rpm limit as I think that doesnt really apply to the free-revving 172 engine (the manual is the same for all the clio range isnt it?) but at the same time Im not going to push it up to 6000rpm until its got a few hundred miles on it.

Should be interesting to go up against your mates 180.

  Cup 172

.:xTreme:.

Congrats on the new motor. Hope it all goes well for you and you dont have any problems. I get my CUP on the 9th December and the waiting is killing me!!

I used to have a Calibra Turbo and Im hoping the performance is in the same league, but the handling will be on another level because the Calibra was pretty sh*t to be honest, lurching from understeer into oversteer as the transfer box tries to do its thing.

It should be a very merry christmas this year:D

Believe me youll love it.

Just had this fella in a Mundaneo try to see me off, wasnt a race as such, he just wanted to flex his muscles. I just stayed behind him, he tried in vain to leave me and must of thought "ffs why cant I shake this fecking clio"!! but the Cup just eats the road and the handling inspires confidence.

Thrilling................... :D

Mine was run in properly...

Now at only 4k miles it runs a 14.5 sec 1/4 mile and has 147bhp @ wheels, with on of the best torque curves Ive seen for a 172/Cup, so anyone who tells you that taking it easy on a new engine will mean it wont be fast is talking b0ll0x!

Seriously though, mine has loads more low end grunt than others... weve plotted the RR results into Excel and mine is clearly different!

GOT IT! Superb!!! Gonna be so so so hard running it in! Did allow the revs to sneak up a few times;) but not too much! Handles way way better than my VTR. Glovebox rattling a bit though. better investigate! HATE the winter because it gets dark so bloody quick!
