Just fitted the spare ECU, UCH, barrel and decoder ring and now I have the exact same issue on my spare ECU set :rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage: It ran on this spare ECU set with the Standard map but doesn't now so I guess it was the UCH at fault at all

Had another look over the car today still f**k all I can find. Looked again for broken wires, double checked all fuses and swapped all relays over and still no progress.
I've got 12.46 volts everywhere, only place I can't get 12v is the fuel pump as that's not priming.

Anyway this is pissing me off so I decided to go and collect this instead.

Started to get my self familiar with my spare 172 engine few months ago, so I've completely dissembled that now and put the 200 engine on the stand.

Clio still hasn't fired into life. March was the last time it started and ran.
Starting to get withdrawal symptoms from track days. Lol
Anyway I've swapped the looms over and swapped relays for new items and still have no joy. So I'm looking at all other options now as I've had enough of it lol.

The car looks a right state currently.

I tried to close the bonnet too as it's been propped open since march and now have an issue with one of the aero catches

Looks like there might be a slight warp in the bonnet maybe, try leaving it closed for a bit might drop back. If not, bit of brute force and ignorance will sort it :wink:

Isn't the pump not priming a immobiliser thing ?

As a test, why not run a 12v direct supply to the fuel pump ?

Yeah defo is, I've got a electric probe that I've used to supply 12volts to the pump and the pump works no problem but still won't start and will only crank 3 times still. Guess there's no spark either.

Mines still does this now and again. Usually when i disconnect the ecu. The only way i sort it is by plugging in the clip and running a test, not sure what it does must reset something.

Made a start on the wiring today :astonished:

Stripped all the s**t off that’s meant to protect the looms, both engine looms, dash interior loom and rear half.

Engine loom just slightly tape together.

I need to test fit the loom and make sure all the plugs are in the correct place and fit around the RS2 inlet manifold.

I need to make a new starter power cable.

Engine loom with the bulkhead fitting on, its had what I think is the headlight wiring cut 🙈
I hope it’s the headlight wiring anyway lol.

How hard was it to sort out all the loom and stuff mate? Something I really want to do at some point.

Massively time consuming 😂
Just taking all the tape and plastics off the looms is a job and half in its self. I was doing it away from the car aswell so trying to remember what plug is for what added a bit of time (especially when I haven’t looked at the car for 3 months or so)
Defo worth doing if it works, even if you don’t remove any of the unused stuff just having it tidy when you’ve got mods/conversions helps the ocd 😂

I’m still tempted by a 230 conversion 🙈

Can I ask how you have mounted the fan to the rad?

Thanks bud.

The fan is a cheap eBay jobbie that comes with a spring mounting kit that pulls through the rad.
Crap way of doing things really. The fan is on my list to upgrade but want it running first.

The wiring was the only job i hated when rebuilding mine! Worth it though to neaten it all up

Defo worth it, this is the second time I’ve had to do tho and is becoming boring 😂

More wiring last night.

I soldered on the new type cranks sensor plug and fitted the new crank sensor, plug the rest of the loom in and tidied more of it up.

I need to get the starter power cable etc made and order some heat proofing sleeves to progress any more really.

Thing you've gotta look at is the over all package. The timing changes the whole characteristics of the power delivery. Even Chris at efi was surprised and hadn't done it before with my mods.
I've never said who or what timing I've had as mark ask me not to mention it. I trusted mark with the timing and he trusted me not to say which Is how it should be.

Mark is the only one I'd show the graph too as he did the hard work, I did that out of respect for marks talent. Chris at EFi was happy with it, I was happy how it drove and mark was happy with the graph. That's all that counts surely?

If I want more I know where I can go, which is cams and higher rev limiter, (Chris at efi 'a suggestions) as the timing is making awesome low down grunt and holding the it through out the Rev range.

If anyone needs a figure 'pub speaking' it's not far off 200.
Very nice project thread, makes me want a big n/a build clio now :smile:
Id be interested in seeing a dyno 😌 not for pub or peak figures, but to see how she performs throughout the rev range with these modifications, its nice to educate the community on how things perform :up:

And as time is running out and I know the car runs and starts I’ve decided to leave the interior loom as it is, well just tidy it up. Once it’s mapped I’ll strip my spare loom down properly. Need to look at getting my new dash fitted too.

If possible can you get a decent amount of info for wiring in the SPA gauge. I’ve put the gauge on my wish list so I can get rid of my simple pressure gauge.

Yeah can try mate. It’s literally 2 wires into the engine bay for both sensors, pressure and temp and then a power and earth to the gauge. There is lots wires but already wired into plugs.

That’d be great, I think I might just be over thinking the wiring lol. Could probably take my power source from somewhere a bit better too
