@SharpyClio what was the duct you purchased to do yours with?

Looks a bit more of an oval shape.
It’s was an intake from a Vauxhall Astra

Decent fit, just need to get decent adhesive as mine came away as it never seemed to set: I was going to redo it but got the blanks. Should do it really in case of a wet track day and I need lights.

Perfect, thanks!

Still got a few weeks until the respray is completed so need little odd jobs to do so things one of them.

Presuming you just separated the lens, drilled a hole and stuck the duct in place.
Reseal the lens and good to go?

Yep. I got some small metal clips to help hold the lens to the backing while it set but I just left them in place.

@SharpyClio ehats the technique to separating the lens?

Is it just these clips holding it in place which seem to be glued on?

Will a hairdryer be enough heat or do I need to put it in the oven?

Also - did you remove the light behind where the duct is and if so, how did it look inside the light fitting when you had finished.

Update!

Having stripped the clio down earlier in the year for respray, it is almost back in my hands and will be ready for me to collect on Saturday.

I wanted to give a nod back to Renault so went with racing blue for the bumpers and sides.
Roof and boot are black and my carbon bonnet will finish it off nicely.

I’ve also purchased a track car aero track wing and front splitter which I will be fitting once I have the car back.

Should be nice and fresh for Anglesey CSF.

I will get the cage out and respray that to. I’m thinking either white or black but not decided yet.

Bit of an update as I’ve been mega busy at work etc and not posted in here.

So the car was all back together ready for CSF25 at Anglesey.

Was my birthday on the Friday so we headed across and got to the track around 6-7pm after sitting in traffic pretty much the whole way from Shrewsbury 😩

Got there and began to set up camp.
Vowing never to tent again, we bought a tailored to fit airbed for the back of the X5 along with some blackout blinds that magnetised to the door shuts.
I was very sceptical however the fit was perfect and the comfort of the air bed coupled with a mattress topper was surprisingly very comfy.

While setting up @Brett and @Mr Trailer Man arrived who we had planned on meeting up earlier with but plans changed last minute.

While they were setting up @Brett had issues with a misfire so after some troubleshooting and bits borrowed from my car we whittled it down to a bad coil pack.
Luckily, in true good clio sport spirit he managed to borrow one from a guy there and all was well and good.
Fast forward a couple hours after we were all settled in, a few drinks were had (tea only for me) and we bedded down for the night.

Wide eyed at 5am I was up and about excited for the full days track time and stretching the clios legs for the first time this year after waiting to get the car back from respray.

Buckled up and out for sighting laps the car felt good, no knocks or bangs, nothing falling off and no nasty rattles (apart from the PMS shifter)

Came back in waiting for the second lot of sighting laps to complete and I was straight back into the queue to get out for the open pit.

The wife decided to stay on the pit lane for my first session as she says I was way to excited to get back out on track 🤷‍♂️

3 laps in and the tyres were coming up to temp, brakes felt good, car felt good so I start pushing on.
4th lap, confidence is growing, tyres are gripping.
Lap 5…. Just coming down the the hairpin and I reach for 4th… couldn’t get it.
Ok, let’s get back into 3rd…. Nope.
Ok Ive slowed down enough now for 2nd…. NOPE.

Luckily, I had enough momentum to keep me going to coast into the start of the pitlane.
Checking my mirrors I could see no oil had been dropped so I was a little confused to start with as everything by felt fine before this.

I got hooked up to the truck and towed back to camp.

Engine off, all gears selected nicely.
Engine on, no gears would select.
Engine off, but in gear and then start up with clutch pressed in - INSERT METAL SOUND HERE

This was the end of the clios track time for the day.

After speaking with a few people they all pointed towards it being the clutch.
Not being overly mechanically minded to the extent of diagnosing I got @NorthloopCup to come and take a look and he confirmed “do not turn the engine on again” 😂

So that was the end of my track time but we still had a fantastic weekend at the track.
Nikki went out and enjoyed hot laps, @Brett took me out in his cup and I have a few hot laps with Yan Whittaker in the track clio which was great.
He even went above and beyond staying out on track longer as he knew about my recent mishap with my car.

Had a walk around the full track and had some great views of the action - it is an amazing place to be.

Saturday night we just chilled out and watched @Brett and @Mr Trailer Man get absolutely tanked 😂
Missed all the action with the other group as we went to what I thought would be a quick shop run however 9 miles in Anglesey seems to take forever.

Sunday morning we packed away and stayed to watch some of the bike track da before heading to the Chateau for a nights stay on the island.
Really nice place and fully recommend staying there - food is very good also.
We pottered around the island for most of the day as we had already done most of the things to do there last year.
Monday we stayed until about 1pm before heading back to the track to pick up the clio and head home.

Even with the clio breaking, it was an absolutely fantastic weekend and everyone there from CS are genuinely a top group of people.

Since being back I have purchased a blackline diff, new clutch and have @NorthloopCup building me up a gearbox which will be fitted at the start of September so fingers crossed I can get back out on track in a few weeks time with a better car than before it broke.

Mine did that at Croft. Turned out to be the tube guide coming loose, which destroyed the release bearing. Luckily mine happened coming down the pit lane. Horrible noise, a puff of smoke and that’s all she wrote. No other damage fortunately. It’ll be amazing with a diff in it.

Yeah I was gutted at first when it happened but it is what it is.

Looking forward to getting it all fixed back up and back on track!
