How much is that costing mate
Just over a grand but is a VERY good friend.
He comes on track days with me as an extra driver so he can get out on track and I’ve never asked for anything so it’s sort of a return favour so to speak.
It will only be an external paint so door shuts etc will remain as they are but for a track car, I don’t really care tbh.

Is already half white.
Shows way too many rubber / tar / scuff marks after a track day.

It’s happening.
Car is booked in for repay next month so it’s time to start stripping bits off of it in preparation.
The below pics are what I’ve taken inspiration from so will be similar but not exact. Won’t be covered in stickers and the roof will be black.
Going to get front splitter and spoiler from trackcaraero at a later date.

Just stripping down the car for respray next month.
Have got plastic windows in the front and started to remove the rubber gasket on the outside and I can see that it is going to split.
Anyone know if they are still available from anywhere or what a solution is to replace?

The strip down continues.
Managed to get the poly windows out the front. Removed all the surrounding trim and expected to see some bolts holding them in but couldn’t see any.
Gave the window a tug and found out they had been glued in
Also got all of the orange vinyl strips off the sides which were pretty baked on. I guess they have been on there for 15 years.
Side strip trims are off on the front doors but the rear ones I didn’t have a nice tool to push them out forwards with so will do that next visit.
Also need to remove the side skirts - I think I’m correct in thinking these are just riveted on from underneath so again, will do that next visit.
Rear bumper has got to come off but didn’t have my jack with me to lift the rear so I can get the arch liners out of the way to get to the bolts and also need to remove the rear lights.
While the front end is off I am going to be making an air duct headlight and blacking them out as this won’t be going for another MOT for a long time.
Rear windows have got to come out but will be done when it goes in. Will probably replace with poly carb on the rear when they go back in.

Side skirts have a torx bit in each end front and rear... Usually missing 
5mm drill bit on the rivets.

My mate who I sold my previous black 172 still has the bootlid since changing to a. Fibreglass one so I’ve managed to purchase that back from him.
Kind of sentimental to have a piece of my previous car on this one

I remember my bro cutting his entire loom on the rear quarter to tuck some wires then realising there was a connection block he could have just undone instead, he spent the rest of the day resoldering the wires

Presuming I just need to yank it all out toward the top of the bootlid and then just re-thread it into the new one.

I’ve ALWAYS wanted an RB so I think I’m scratching an itch.
As it’s a favour from a friend I can’t go to mad on choosing a colour that is a b*****d to spray otherwise I’d feel like a c**t.
I’m still open to suggestions and if you have an image to go with, my mind can still be changed.

Clio is now fully stripped to where I need it to be for the spray which will be in about 3 weeks time.
It’s been good to get everything off and check everything over.
As this has been a track car for around 17 years it has never been kept outside or suffered from salty roads and you can definitely tell.
Bar the jacking points being fucked from years of jacking up to work on it is in great condition underneath.
Granted nuts and bolts are ratty but everything is nice and free to undo.
just needs a good clean down now and all of the little parts like side strips, bumpers and side skirts jet washing out.

Just wanted to come on here and show you all my freshly painted Clio 182 turbo as a couple have asked, which as title suggests is racing blue pearl, absolutely amazing in person tried to show it off abit but not the best on camera. Full detail + some proper wax is needed. Hope you enjoy these...

Going to have a go at the headlight blanks this weekend hopefully.
As I have the headlights out at the moment, when I turn on the ignition it thinks that the main beam is constantly on.
Presuming when I cut the back out of the lights, I have no option to plug the connectors in so what do I do here?

Mine always has the main beam on
You need some sort of resistor in the plug or something like that to stop it
