Small update but the one I've been waiting for ages!
The car has been in this state for last 5 months cca..
Dont know about UK, but in europe we have a shop named 'intercars' and it has Polish roots, and basically you give them your old rear beam ( rear beams that have torsion bars.. renault, peugeot, citroen etc.. and you pay some money to get back refurbished one ( painted, new bushings and that rusty torison bars that can slide out very easy )).
So, i ditched the scenic rear beam as it was too wide, and went for megane 1 estate rear beam. Wheels sit cca 4 cm wider compared to oem, its has new style calipers, and more important 25mm rear torsion bar, but 23mm ARB. Megane coach has 25mm ARB, the plan is to put that ARB but that's something that's not important now.
I've never lowered a torsion style beam but watched a lot of guides, so this was my 1st try with it, and I can say, preparation is key! It went smooth like butter, even managed to get the height from the 1st try.
Cleaned and greased everything, and put back, would also like to paint the beam properly because it's not painted properly now.. There was some modifications for the rear shocks to fit from coach to estate beam but dont have any pics of that, will take it in the future..
Although the beam is "refurbished", there was barely any thread in the torsion bar, lucky it went good with the thread tap.
Back on it's feet after a long time
And front end assembled
So.. why am I putting it all back when there is no work done to it? Well finally I got a chance to move into to a proper space what I dreamed of ( the kind of space I see watching youtubers from UK, renting out sheds etc ) with my brother and his shitboxes
This is an ex military vehicles storage warehouse, and it's massive, 70 meters long and 20 meters wide, from EX YU, now in private property and we got a very good price for 13x10M, only thing, it's far from city we live/work in, but hey, that's why the price is good and there is nothing surrounding it, meaning we can do whatever we want there whenever we want.
Last week we moved (almost) all of our cars in there and yesterday we sorted them out. Landlord needs to put all the panels to separate our space from other, and then we will probably move a few more of our cars in there. Almost all of them are projects to fix and sell, few of them are keepers.
This means the work on the Megane in the future can be carried out without stress that I need to cover it after working on it, because it's outside, no stress thinking about noise and can finally build the proper work space I wanted..
Cheers
